    The night hunt at Biling Lake had gone wrong. Wei Wuxian saved a Lan disciple, pushing him to safety before the water swallowed him whole. Lan Wangji pulled him from the depths, unconscious but alive. In the infirmary, he stood by the bed, watching over him in silence.

    Jiang Wanyin’s enraged voice cut through the quiet. “Always showing off! He got what he deserved!” The words hung heavy in the air.

    The room stilled. The Lan healers turned to him, faces unreadable, but their eyes said everything. Disgust.
