Chapter Text

It had been two weeks since they had come home from the hospital.

Life was chaotic, but couldn't be better.

Jake woke up to the sound of the baby monitor blasting through his ear. He quickly put it on mute, as to not wake up Amy, who was exhausted from dealing with the twins all day while he went on a stakeout with Terry to make a drug bust.

In the nursery, Mac was crying his eyes out.

"Hey" said Jake, as he picked him up quickly to not wake Isa. "You hungry buddy?"

He took him to the kitchen, where he heat up a bottle pumped by Amy last night.

As soon as the bottle was warm, he took Mac to the sofa and covered him with a blanket (he seemed to have inherited the Santiago freeze gene) as he drank up his bottle. Jake looked at the clock: 4'AM. Amy would be waking up in two hours to her first alarm of the day, and although she was on maternity leave, her routine was not to be disrupted.

As Mac finished drinking his bottle, they both fell asleep on the couch.

Half an hour later, the baby monitor screamed into Jake's ear. Isa was awake.

He went and picked her up, she didn't seem to be hungry, taking into account that Amy had fed her about an hour ago. Jake figured she just wanted to be held, or some sort of twin telepathy sensing that her brother was no longer in the room.

As he settled back into the couch with both babies asleep in his chest, he fully realized this was all what life was about.

As his eyes closed, the last thing he saw were two curly heads snoring happily.

Amy woke up to the sound of her 6'AM alarm blaring in her ear. She would've expected to wake up to one or two crying babies, and when her right hand reached out and felt cold, she panicked.

She sat up with a jump, and when she didn't see the baby monitor, her heart sank.

She was a detective, she had seen a bunch of these cases of kidnapping before, and let's say that the closer you are to the justice system, the higher your chances are of experiencing them.

She went to the bathroom. Jake wasn't there.

She went to the kitchen and the nursery, but he or the twins weren't there either.

Until she went to the living room.

There he was, his husband with both of his kids, laying on his chest, all three of them deep asleep.

She quickly took her phone out and snapped a picture.

New background pic.

"Hello" she whispered.

"Hi" said Jake, still with his eyes closed.

"You asleep or awake"

"Resting my eyes"

"Huh" she said, picking up Isa from her husbands chest, who seemed to be opening her eyes now.

"Hey, you stole her from me!" said Jake, mock-offendedly.

"Sharing is caring" said Amy as she sat next to her husband. "You get one and I get one"

They both sat there as they turned on the TV and put on the kids channel.

"You know" said Jake. "The channel isn't half bad"

"You're right" said Amy. "Or maye we're just too sleep deprived"

"Agreed"
