Strawberry Dream Girl

Summary:

Just simply smelling strawberries reminds Hatsune Miku of her beloved Megurine Luka, although anything related to strawberries makes her think of her, so she surrounds herself with things associated to the fruit as much as possible

Notes:

Miku, Luka, Rin and Len are all in their early twenties in this oneshot

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Miku's POV:

I thought I was cuddling Luka until I awoke from my slumber. I thought I had my arms wrapped around her and was slowly drawing myself closer to her until I tried to snuggle my face into her hair, only to find my cheeks rub against the fabric of the pillow that it turns out I was actually embracing instead.

I didn't really have much other reason to think it was her other than her sweet, strawberry scent that lingered in said pillow. It's that scent that draws me to her every time, and makes every waking moment that I spend with things flavoured around the red berry make me think of her.

It's also that scent that confused me as to where she was. Usually she is still in bed at this time, and we get to have morning cuddles together until it's time to remember that there is a world that we must face outside of the comfort of our home.

But for some reason, she wasn't there.

I rolled onto my back and stared up at the ceiling for a while, contemplating what I should do about this new found information. Should I go and look around the house, or should I just stay and lie here, worrying about where she is or where I could have gone wrong to make her leave when we've been going so well?

But luckily, I didn't have to think this over too long, as soon enough, the door of our bedroom opened and Luka stepped inside. Her lovely long hair and elegant body were wrapped in baby pink towels, meaning that while I had been worrying that she had left me, she had actually been having a shower.

Which isn't unusual of her, as she loves showers, but usually she tells me first and allows me to try and pull her back into bed so we can continue our cuddles.

Shortly followed by her entrance was a new waft of her strawberry fragrance that overpowered the old one that only just lingered in her pillow. It was heavenly to inhale, and if she wasn't wet, I would have sprang to hug her.

Who am I kidding? I still charged and wrapped my arms around her anyway.

"Good morning, Miku," She chuckled in her honey-like voice and with a smile that melted my heart.

"Good morning, my divine angel," I replied softly, smiling like an idiot because of just how gorgeous she is.

Either what I said or how I looked was obviously funny because she chuckled to herself once more before motioning towards the wardrobe to pick out clothes she would be wearing for the day.

Most of her side of the wardrobe was pink, while my side was all the different gradients of green and blue. She picked out a cherry pink tanktop and light pink shorts and a pink flowy dress with strawberry prints on it and gently placed them on the bed.

Luka hummed to herself as she put a finger to her chin in thought. She's always been very indecisive when it comes to pick what clothes to wear, which I've never understood as she looks beautiful in everything, but I'm still there to help out anyway.

"Would you like me to pick?" I asked as I creeped up behind her.

"Yes please!" She nodded, giving up before falling onto the bed with exhaustion.

Without giving it a second thought, I immediately picked up the strawberry dress and threw it onto her.

"You really like strawberries, huh?" She quipped.

"I mean you already smell like strawberries, so you might as well wear this too!" I replied, blushing a little as I scratched the back of my neck.

"Can't I change it up though?" Luka questioned.

"I mean, you can, but this looks better on you," I answered, "You're my strawberry girl, not my cherry girl."

"Okay, okay," She yielded before picking up the dress and making her way to the bathroom.

Once she was gone, I pumped my fist in the air before getting dressed for myself. Since she's wearing a strawberry dress, I decided to throw on a light blue shirt with my navy letterman jacket that has a blueberry print at the back and my black shorts.

After I finished changing, Luka came out of the bathroom in the dress, and she looked absolutely stunning. Her pink hair compliments the dress so amazingly, and I think now she gets why I picked the outfit for her.

"What do you think?" She asked as she twirled around a little.

I ran up to her before lifting her in the air to spin her around even more. She sweetly chuckled and I put her back down only after her face turned red.

"You look perfect," I answered, blushing a little myself.

"And so do you!" My pink haired girlfriend smiled.

"I know," I smiled back, but with a smug undertone, "But you look even better."

I then held out my hand, and she took it. We then made our way out of the room and went down the stairs.

We had a quick and small breakfast before putting on our shoes and stepping out of the door and into the world outside. It's a scary place, but as long as we're together, we'll be okay.

"So, where are we going today?" Luka asked.

"I was thinking maybe we could catch up with the Kagamine twins today?" I suggested, "We haven't seen those two in a while, so I thought it would ve nice to spend the day with them."

"That sounds like a great idea!" She nodded agreement, "Let's go!"

With that, we tightened the grip of our interlocked fingers before running down the street together. We still don't have enough money to buy a car yet, but doing this is much better than driving around in some boring vehicle.

We arrived at the café the twins told us to meet at and when we stepped through the door, our eyes immediately darted towards a booth that had the two blonde heads sat there. Len spotted us first before Rin could turn, but once she did, she waved with a cheery grin and beckoned us over.

We slid into the opposite side of the table from the twins and sat down. The seating was nice and comfortable, so we rested our interlocking fingers on top.

"Hi Miku and Luka!" Rin beamed, her bright blue eyes lighting up even more, "It's so great to see you!"

"It's so great to see you too, Rin! And you, Len!" I responded, "How are you two?"

"We're alright..." Len muttered, not looking up from his phone, sat inside a banana case, in his hand.

"Well, I definitely am, but Len's not doing so great..." My blonde haired best friend sighed.

"What happened, Len?" I questioned.

"It's noth-" He was about to lie, but then his twin piped up.

"His boyfriend broke up with him!" She interrupted.

"Oh no!" I cried, "It was Fukase, right?"

"It's not that big of a deal..." Len muttered.

"It totally is though!" Rin argued, wrapping her arms around him, "You deserve all the love and happiness in the world, lil' bro!"

"Oh big sis..." He sighed.

After that, me and Rin chatted some more. Luka and Len also joined in occasionally, but it was mostly us doing more of the talking as we're more extroverted.

I do wish my girlfriend was a little less introverted as her voice is so soft and beautiful that it should be heard by everyone all the time, but I do enjoy the rare moments she does speak in front of others and I hear her angelic vocals.

After about ten minutes, we decided to go up to the counter as none of us had a lot to eat for breakfast. I ordered for myself and Luka, and Rin ordered for herself and Len. Once we were done, we then sat back down.

"I forgot to ask, how is your relationship going at the moment?" My blonde haired best friend questioned.

"As smooth as peanut butter, or should I say as smooth as cream and strawberries," I answered.

"And for you, Luka?" She then asked.

"I love Miku a lot, she makes me feel a lot better about myself..." My girlfriend muttered, her face going bright pink.

"How could you ever feel bad about yourself?! You're a queen! A goddess!" I exclaimed.

Luka chuckled before saying, "Exactly like that..."

After that, our food arrived on the table. Rin smiled down at her chocolate orange brownie, Len's eyes lit up when he looked down at his banana split, I licked my lips as I was given my blueberry muffin and...

Luka blushed as she turned towards me after being given her strawberry shortcake. She had actually picked it out herself, but I guess she gets reminded of me whenever she sees anything strawberry related, like I do with her.

We all then started on our food. My pink haired girlfriend sat beside me looked so cute as she nibbled at her slice of cake that I watched her instead of eating my own muffin.

However, when she noticed, she tutted playfully and nudged me in the arm.

"Eat your blueberry muffin!" She chuckled.

"No! You're too cute!" I whined, "I can't look away from you!"

With that, Luka twisted my head around and stuffed the muffin into my mouth. I bit on some of it before having to spit out the whole cake as I didn't want to choke on it.

Rin, watching us from the other side of the table, giggled to herself. She tried to get Len to watch our fun shenanigans, but he refused to look up from his phone, so she rolled her blue eyes before looking back at us.

"You two are so cute!" She then gushed, "You two are just so in love and it makes my heart melt! I wish I could be with you two..."

"We both know that very well," I quipped, "But keep your hands off Luka! She's mine, and only mine!"

"Oh Miku, my brave knight!~" Luka hummed.

I felt my cheeks light up, but I couldn't just idiotically go silent now! My girlfriend just complimented me, I need to return the favour!

"Yes I am, and I shall now return my beautiful princess back to her castle!" I declared as I picked her up and made my way out of the booth.

"But Miku! What about your blueberry muffin?" My blonde haired best friend tried to call for me.

"Farewell peasants!" I called back before we were finally out of the door.

And once we were out of the café, Luka tried to fall out of my arms, so I had to have a firmer grip of her to keep her steady.

"It's okay, Miku!" She reassured me, "You can put me down now!"

"No, my lady!" I cried, "As your loyal knight, I must take you back like this!"

My girlfriend tried to struggle her way out, but she failed and eventually yielded.

"Fine, if you insist..." She sighed.

"Haha!" I laughed to myself, "Now, let me take you away!"

I ran down the streets and all the way back to our house whilst holding my lovely Luka. It was no issue at all, and she seemed rather thankful when we arrived home.

That rightfully earned me a smug smile before I could let her in. And once we were in, her strawberry scent could finally smelt by my enchanted nose once more.

I was saddened when I couldn't smell it while in the café, but we're home now. But really, as long as I'm with her, any place is home.

For the rest of the afternoon, we mostly chilled. It's a regular routine, a tradition if you will, but with my girlfriend, it's much more special.

We watched movies, we listened to music, but none of that really matters because all that matters to me is Luka's happiness. She finds happiness in angelically laughing at funny movies and gracefully singing to her favourite songs.

And, she also finds happiness in snuggling up close to me on our couch. She finds happiness in being wrapped up in soft velvet blankets with me.

She finds happiness with me, I find happiness with her. We find happiness with each other.

But, enough about that. It's now dinnertime, and I am waiting patiently at the table for my meal. Out of the two of us, my girlfriend is a much better cook, so I often leave it to her to make the both of us fabulous food rather than make me give us food poisoning.

Luka is a huge fan of seafood, so she's making us calamari tonight. I've never tried calamari before, so i hope it tastes nice.

Who am I kidding? Of course it will taste nice is she is making it!

Once she was finished cooking, she brought the two plates out onto the table. I waited for her to sit down before I took my first bite, but once I did, I was in awe.

"This tastes incredible!" I gushed, "Thank you for blessing my mouth with the amazing taste of this calamari!"

"Aww Miku, you're making me blush!" Luka smiled, before then frowning as she sighed, "You flatter me so much with your sweet words, it almost feels too good to be true..."

"What? How?" I questioned.

"You've just got such a way with words and I feel like I'm failing you as I don't have enough courage to return the favour, neither when we're alone or in public..." She explained, her head drooping down,  "I don't deserve someone who is as kind as you..."

"Don't you dare say that! You're amazing!" I argued, "If anything, I don't deserve you!"

Luka then looked up.

"You're beautiful, smart, funny, cool, stylist, glamorous, lovely and just... perfect!" I stated, "I may joke around from time to time, but I'm not perfect, and you are, and that's why I love you!"

"Oh Miku..." My pink haired girlfriend sighed.

"And that's why I've made dessert for tonight!" I announced.

"You what?!" She exclaimed.

"Yep!" I smiled, standing up and putting my hands on my hips with pride.

"But your not any better at baking than you are cooking..." Luka muttered.

"How could you say such a thing!" I argued dramatically, before clearing my throat as i entered the kitchen, "I didn't actually bake anything."

"What have you... got then?" She asked.

I went into the cupboard to find the secret strawberries with melted chocolate that I had secretly made and hid while my girlfriend wasn't looking earlier. I was happy that they were still there, but...

The melted chocolate that I had drizzled perfectly over the fruit had now gone solid. I thought it would stay perfect, and now i'm disappointed.

With a heavy sigh, I brought them into the next room and placed them before her. I then sat down myself and kept my eyes on the floor with shame.

"Strawberries, who would have guessed?~" Luka quipped.

"I know, but they're ruined now..." I muttered.

"Well, I appreciate the effort!" My girlfriend smiled after taking a bite of one, "They still taste pretty good!"

I then looked up and grabbed one for myself. She's right! These are good! Like I would ever doubt myself on that...

But what is even better is the happiness beaming from her face as she nibbled at my chocolate strawberry. To watch her smile like that feels as if I'm in the best dream ever.

And once we were finished and she rested her hand, I came around the table and bent down to kiss it.

"I love you, my strawberry dream girl," I said.

"And I love you too, Miku," Luka replied.
