okay, so -

huntr/x is so close. they're actually so close to turning the honmoon gold. it shimmered gold at the concert they opened with how it's done and they spent a solid fifteen minutes squealing about it with each other.

of course, zoey and mira Know rumi so well and they manage to catch her rubbing her pointer fingers together evilly and going “yes haha relaxation. of Course.” because idk they're walking slower this time???

BUT ANYWAY!! zoey goes “oh hell no !!!” and forcibly drags rumi to the Couch for Couch Time (mira takes away her phone. and her watch. and her other watch. and - well, you get the picture.) (she's also on food duty!!)

so zoey loads up her playlist of 700 two-second videos and she (excited), mira (contently bored), and rumi (shaking out of her skin because she's a workaholic) watch them. by the end of it (less than 25 minutes later), the three of them have sort of just… sunk into Couch. they're blobby lil blobs.

so they get, uh… i'll be generous and say three!! they get three days like this!! relaxy timeee <333 they play truth or dare at least five times and zoey always has something they can watch and mira teaches them insanely fun card games and rumi rests up her voice and has fun!! they all have fun!! this is so important to me. they deserve Couch.

anyway, on the fourth day, bobby shows up at their place and tells them all about the saja boys (and sodapop). the girls, scrutinizing it, realize that they're demons. the realization is basically the same as canon except they haven't met/seen them in person yet.

unfortunately the doctor scene has to be cut here :( rumi has been Assigned Resting (her voice) By Force, and she's been rebonding with her girls!!! i think originally, before what it sounds like, rumi’s demon marks grow because of her… shame? but here zoey and mira are making sure she's as good as can be!! she's having fun!! so the marks haven't grown that far Yet.

but anyway!! the variety show thing still happens, there's just a few extra lines about how it's So Nice to finally meet 🙃🙃🙃. but they do end up going to the men's bathhouse, etc etc, rujinu kdrama moment, etc.

and they have released golden and the promo by now, and the first three live concerts that included golden went off without a hitch because rumi’s restocking up on Couch and Friend energy every morning and night. it's still just golden and sodapop switching for the top spot every day.

so jinu sends the tiger and the magpie (I LOVE THEM SO MUCH). uh, problem is, though, rumi’s chilling with mira (and zoey, but she's asleep) on the balcony. they were coming up with half-joking ideas for a saja boys diss track. so anyway rumi sees the bird and goes “what the hell.” the tiger comes out of the ground and manages to look ominous for 3.5 seconds before knocking over a flowerpot (twice) (i love the tigerrrr so cute) and then slobbering out a card.

the bird is so done. could the tiger not act intimidating for two minutes, please.

the only thing the message says is “let’s meet! -jinu”.

rumi: pffft obviously i'm not going to MEET him

mira: yeah, duh. why would you? oh they're. disappearing. great.

zoey, once she's been woken up and caught up (aka five seconds later): uh, why would you meet up, right? that's a bad idea!! and i mean, it's probably a setup to distract you!! and it just doesn't make sense, you definitely shouldn't go, rumi, he's trying to get in your head.

rumi, tracking where the tiger’s going after it teleported to street level so she can follow it to jinu: …okay but. what if. i went.

mira & zoey: GIRRRRRRL

so obviously all three of them go together, except mira and zoey stay hidden in the shadows. rumi sneaks up on jinu and beheads him -

it's not a mannequin. it's actually jinu. he dissipates in a puff of smoke; mira and zoey (spread out in positions that let them cover more ground) are like. (mira voice) uh, he looks dead. (zoey voice) no, yeah, totally!! he's not even there anymore, HA!! nice shot, rumi!!! oh wait - aw man, we won't get to use takedown to diss the saja boys anymore!! (rumi voice) that was suspiciously easy.

okay i'm sorry for killing jinu off. it had to be done if huntr/x is going to turn the honmoon gold at the idol awards. i'm so so so so sorry. he is really actually dead in this fic. if you want you can imagine that gwi-ma’s slowly and torturously reforming him!!! it's going to take at least a hundred years though soo

if you're wondering what happened to the other saja boys: they were just summoned back to the demon world by a very angry gwi-ma. this is a pr NIGHTMARE for whatever team they have -

that really is it though lol. gwi-ma has to stick to things like demon flight attendants again after this :/

timeskip of things going okay!!! the tiger and the bird do keep showing up so huntr/x just sort of steals them.

mira: look, the saja boys are disbanded and jinu’s dead. they keep showing up. we might as well keep them.

rumi: YES !!!!

zoey: yeah okay the tiger’s cute i guess. {mira & rumi turn puppy dog eyes on her} okayyy they can stay!!

so when they're at the idol awards - hmm. gwi-ma is still trying to make them lose, so i think the demons pretending to be/to be kidnapping bobby scene does happen.

takedown can't play because there's no one to put it on and it's only a half-formed idea in this au, so let's say that mira and zoey, after those three demons have disappeared, can still hear golden playing. very loudly. the acoustics here are incredible. and they go “oh it's almost time for us to reappear!!” and RUN back so they'll be onstage in time. anyone who sees them just leaps out of the way.

why are they faster in this scenario? idk it just seems fun!! there's got to be Something to replace onstage takedownand i want it to be turning the honmoon gold >:)

so, mira and zoey get back onstage in time, right after rumi gets down from the giant golden huntr/x symbol she was swinging above the audience in. they manage to make the honmoon gold in the literal last line of the song (“that's who we're born to be!”)!! all three of them are Side By Side because when mira was doing the choreography she wanted it to show how much they trust & love each other!! and they're all so so so happy!!! genuinely all of them are so happy.

zoey knows what will happen when they get offstage - the three of them are going to squeal, and jump up and down, and celebrate!! they're going to keep looking at the honmoon and going EEE!!!! and then they can go home and chill!! take rumi to the BATHHOUSE, FINALLY

mira knows what will happen when they get back home - there's going to be so much Couch. they're all going to just relax. and keep squealing at each other. take that three-month hiatus (it'll include at Least one spa day every week). it's going to be so chill.

rumi knows what's going to happen after this - they'll freak out together, and go home, and she can finally finally finally be fully open. maybe she can wear tank tops again!! it might take a while, because her patterns seem to be disappearing really slowly (because that's what has to be happening now, right?), but still!! she can go see celine and they can spend time together. it'll all be so easy.

then the three of them get offstage and rumi collapses.

zoey: oh my god oh my god oh my god are you okay??? rumi??? rumi!!! what's wrong!!

mira, internally: screaming & panicking

mira, externally: poking rumi gently in the shoulder and going “fuuuu-”

rumi’s patterns are, if anything, spreading - a bit onto her face, her hands, her throat… they turned the honmoon gold but now rumi’s body is tearing itself apart because of it.

mira and zoey see the patterns, but this time they - well they kind of freeze up for a moment before they register that it's rumi, they love her, they know her, it's Not The Time. later they'll talk about betrayal, about harmful secrets, about a lot of things. right now they have to get rumi home.

i don't actually know how this would end. i'm assuming the power of love (however you want to interpret that, platonic/romantic/etc) and also a lot of deep important conversations have something to do with it. huntr/x’s three-month hiatus gets extended to five. the honmoon does get replaced with the new rainbow one still, somehow. what it sounds like is created and becomes their most popular song.

IT'S A HOPEFUL ENDING OKAY!!!! things turn out alright eventually!!!!

the end scenes in the movie were super cute actually so i'm keeping that. also huntr/x does in fact have at least one spa day a week and they go to the bathhouse Every Single Day.

oh yeah they also defeat gwi-ma for good somehow. don't think about it too hard because i sure didn't!!!

yay communication!!! yay huntr/x!!! life is good.
