This was impossible.
Wataru was investigating a case and got caught; he was forced to take a drug, and they left him to die. He passed out in pain, fully believing that he wouldn’t wake up…
But he did. And his clothes were too big.
And now, seeing himself in the reflection of the window of a store, he understood why.
He was a child. Somehow, he had gotten back to the age of 6 or 7 years old.
And the worst part was that a child alone in the middle of the night was noticeable.
“Hey, are you okay?” A random old man asking him when he passed by.
“I…”
“I’ll call the police, okay? They’ll take you with your parents.”
Well, maybe that wasn’t a bad idea. Sato would recognize him and help him.
“Don’t worry, Ojii-sama! I know him, I’ll take him home. Thank you.”
And just like that, a teenager had taken him and was carrying him away.
“Oi! Who are you? This is a kidnap!”
“I’m sorry, but I know what just happened to you and you really don’t want to go to the police now. I can help you.”
Wataru tried to fight with him, but the teenager didn’t let him; instead, he broke a capsule under his nose and the last thing he saw was pink smoke coming out of it.
When he woke up, it was already midday. He was sitting in an alley against a wall, a few meters away from the teenager that had taken him. He was looking out of a corner; suddenly, he jumped and took another kid. He approached with the new kid shaking and fighting with the hand over his mouth.
It seemed that he was a serial kidnapper, so Wataru closed his eyes and pretended to still be asleep.
He then heard a voice he recognized. Conan.
“Did you just kidnap me? It wasn’t enough with the last time?”
He had already been kidnaped by the same guy, and no one had knew? Wataru needed to have a serious conversation with Conan.
“Come on, Tantei-kun, this barely counts.”
“Sure, this is nothing after taking me to another country in a bag. But it’s still a kidnap.”
Wataru was dying. What had happened to Conan?
“You’re completely free. We’re just talking.”
“I can go whenever I want, then?”
“Wait, I have a present to you!”
There was a pause, in which Wataru guessed the kidnaper had pointed at him.
“Another kidnaped child? Don’t you think I have enough with the Shounen Tantei-dan?”
“But Tantei-kun! I found this kid with adult clothes and a police id.”
Conan didn’t answer for a few seconds.
“Did he get shrunk?”
How did he know that?
“I guess. That’s why I bought him to you. However, he seemed to think that I kidnaped him, so I put him to sleep.”
“Kid, you absolutely kidnaped him.”
Kid, as in Kaitou Kid? Was him that teenager?
And Conan was chatting so casually with him?
“Well, it was for a good cause.”
“Hmh.”
“Oh, by the way, he should be awake since a few minutes. He’s probably pretending so he heard all the conversation.”
“You could’ve said it before. Hey, whoever you are, get up. We won’t hurt you. Actually, I’m saving you from this idiot.”
“Ouch, Tantei-kun.”
Wataru stood up and looked at Conan; the other recognized him instantly.
“Takagi-keiji? Shit. What are we going to do now? You’re going to go missing and the police is going to investigate more than with me.”
“How did you recognize me? Also, what the hell, Conan-kun? More than with you, you said. Did you go missing? When, why didn’t I know about that? And Kaitou Kid kidnaped you? And Kid kidnaped me? And no one of you think is strange that I’m a child now?”
“Well, Edogawa Conan never wasn’t the one that disappeared…”
Then everything made sense.
Well, not everything. But Conan made sense.
“You got shrunked too.”
“Ding, ding, ding! Tantei-kun here is Kudo Shinichi.”
Conan turned to Kid. “Why did you tell him? I’m not going around revealing your identity.”
“You don’t know my identity.”
“I don’t? Are you sure, Kaito Kid?”
Great. Conan—Kudo knew Kid’s identity and didn’t want to reveal it; not even in front of Wataru.
And he had always thought that Co—Kudo was one of those people that respected completely the law.
“Sorry, Sorry! It’s not like you were going to hide it from him, now that he’s little too. It’s not so difficult to guess anyway.”
“Of course is difficult to guess.”
“Meitantei. Your disguise are some glasses.”
“And ten years of difference.”
“When you almost revealed your identity to Mouri-san, you took off your glasses. So, are the glasses.”
