When Shouta was told to come to the meeting with Nezu, where they talk to Bakugou's parents about his behavior, and what they found from his middle school's security cameras, he expected his mother to be loud. He's already been through one meeting with her and had realized that she was just like her son. Loud, opinionated, and explosive. Even if she didn't have the actual explosive quirk.
He expected Mrs Bakugou to scream about how this wasn't fair to Bakugou. After all, Midoriya was a late bloomer. Everyone thought he was quirkless, he had the body for quirklessness, so it was expected for Bakugou to act the way he did, in their unfortunately twisted society. He expected her to try and fight tooth and nail. To defend her sons every action.
He didn't expect that after they showed his parents the footage, a compilation of every verbal threat, attack, and assault from middle school to even just yesterday, was for her to go dead silent. Eyes wide, horrified, even slightly hazy.
"Katsuki. H-how could you..." Mr Bakugou had said, he had gone remarkably pale during it, flinching at every remark Katsuki had made, his hand slowly moving upwards to cover his mouth.
This was expected, as Mr Bakugou had seemed the more reasonable out of the three.
Katuski just scoffs, though throughout the entire compilation he seemed almost hesitant, paused.
"What does it even matter? The shitty need didn't have a quirk back then." He hisses, and Mr Bakugou starts shaking his head, looking like he's about to be sick. He's about to say something before Mrs Bakugou starts to talk.
"Thats what everyone said when they did that to me." She says, hauntingly. All eyes snap to her, Katuski's especially.
"Everyone thought I was a false positive, nobody could figure out what quirk I had. And because my mom was quirkless and my father was who fucking knows where, everyone assumed I got the quirkless gene." She says, her voice quiet, shaky. "I grew up believing I was quirkless until my twenties."
"What...?" Katsuki had the face that he usually makes right before an explosion, quirk and otherwise. While Mr Bakugou reaches out to hold Mrs Bakugou's hand.
"Every day I spent being beaten, bullied, harassed, even nearly kidnapped and killed. Just because everyone knew I was quirkless." Her voice is starting to rise, just barely, strength returning to it. "I nearly didn't make it to twenty due to it."
"The only reason that kept me going was Inko. She, a girl who could barely speak above a whisper to anyone, stood up to bullies for me. She saw past my angry and jaded exterior, and gave me a place to escape from the world. When all it wanted to do was beat me down because of how I was born!"
"When no college would take me because of my quirkless status she was the one who helped me find a job modeling. When places would kick me out, because they saw that little mark on your ID saying I was a null, she was the one who helped me find places to replace it. Finding quirkless safe areas and neighborhoods. Like the one we live in now! She was the only thing that kept me going some days, Katsuki! Because there was one person in the world who wouldn't stomp on me, and tell me the world would be better off without a void like me!" Mrs Bakugou is shouting now, visibly growing angry. Katsuki meanwhile just stares, eyes wide at his mother.
"When Izuku was diagnosed quirkless," she falters, for just a second, before she plows on "I-I knew his life was going to be harder than most, I knew he would face ridicule, harassment, danger, and discrimination. I knew first hand what it was like being quirkless. Nobody thought to check the chemical makeup of my sweat."
"But I thought that at atleast Izuku had you Katsuki, that you could be his Inko. The one who stands up to bullies, who carves out space in the world to protect him, who saves people like Izuku and me." Mrs Bakugou's fists clench, and she closes her eyes.
"I couldn't have been more wrong. I'm disgusted by you Katsuki." She says, gritting her teeth. Before she abruptly stands, pulling her son up by the ear before making him bow. She as well bows, by the hips nearly ninety degrees. Mr Bakugou quickly follows.
"He'll take any punishment you see fit, and he will be getting a punishment at home as well." She says, her voice fierce before she straightens up.
"I'm so glad you agree!" Nezu says, his creepy smile just a touch too wide. "Now shall we start the discussion on what we shall do with young Bakugou here..."
