    The rings on their necks clink against each other, a quiet promise sealed in blood and unspoken words made long ago.

    Jeonghan might leave before Seungcheol can hear him say those words out loud and before they can talk about the weight of these rings. He might come back too.

    They are on a ticking clock, but he stays when Seungcheol says it and he does what he can. For now, it’s enough.

    So he supplements “I love you” for “Please don’t leave me just yet.” And every time Jeonghan stays, Seungcheol pulls himself deeper into the dream and thinks: maybe, he’ll never wake up.
