Hayden and Shane were sitting in their hotel room chatting, the Boston - New York game had ended about 20 minutes ago and now they were analysing the game. Well Shane was, Hayden was pretty much just shit talking Rozanov. That's when Shane's phone started blowing up, he frowned and Hayden looked at him in concern. He picked it up and blinked in surprise.

Shane stared at his phone in disbelief realistically he knew that at least some of the people on Rozanov's team would know he had a regular hook up just like Hayden had found out about Lily. Still he hadn’t been expecting this. He debated leaving the group, he was chewing on his lip when Hayden said his name. He looked up and Hayden was giving him a concerned look. Shane swallowed and gave him a small smile.
“I got added to a group chat. I just wasn’t expecting it, everything’s fine.” Hayden nodded and then pulled his own phone leaving Shane to figure it out by himself. Not like he could actually ask for advice but still. That's when the thought hit him, this would be a great way to get black mail or Rozanov. And with that his mind had been made up.
Jane: Hi! Heads up I'm not much of a texter so I’ll probably not be very active and the only reason I decided not to leave is the small chance that this will lead to me having black mail on Rozanov.

Shane felt like throwing up as he looked at Allies messages. He could have denied it but he didn’t WANT to deny it. He got her text at the same time as the call came. He let it ring for a moment just staring before being brave enough to actually answer. He didn’t say anything, just closed his eyes in the dark empty hospital room. His parents were at home because visiting hours were up and ilya had left to go back to Boston and the room was dark because the light would only make his concussion worse. He’d tried to sleep, his head ached but he’d already slept for almost 14 consecutive hours so instead he was doing this. He wasn’t high anymore, at least not to the same extent as he’d been when Ilya had been there.
Allie was the first to break the silence. “Shane” He swallowed, closing his eyes again he didn’t remember opening them but he had.
“Hey Allie” She exhaled shakily on the other side and shane felt like crying
“Fuck,” Her voice broke “Are, are you okay?” He laughed wetly as tears were now running down his cheeks uncontrollably.
“Define okay” Allie laughed too but he could hear the tears stuck in her throat.
“Fair, I, Fuck I’m so sorry” Shane smiled leaning back against his pillow. The tension draining from him Allie was his friend and she didn’t hate him.
“Don’t, I’m the sorry one, I lied.”
“NO, no no no. Fuck that. Don’t ever say that again. Besides, tell me one thing that you’ve actually lied about. You never denied anything, you were open with the fact that Jane wasn’t your real name. You never lied, and even if you did I could not care less. Because you didn’t really have a choice did you” Shane had already been crying but now he was sobbing covering his face with his arm.
“Allie. Fuck, i love you so much” Allie laughed.
“Love you too idiot.” They sat in silence for a long time.
“How much did I get right?” Shane blinked in surprise.
“What?” Allie laughed and Shane smiled.
“When I told the WAGs about my theory, how on point was I?” Shane burst out laughing then, he’d forgotten about that, almost.
“Honestly when I read that I was seriously questioning my existence wondering if you were living in my fucking walls becasue i swear you were spot fucking on.”
“Fuck really?” She laughed but sounded slightly disbelieving.
“Yeah” He exhaled slowly, licking his lips and biting his lower lip.
“I don’t even remember what I said and it was so long ago I don't wanna even try to scroll back, could you tell me?” She sounded hesitant and Shane smiled.
“Well, what do you wanna know?” The silence stretched for a long while before she answered, her voice soft and careful like she wasn’t sure what she was allowed to ask even if she had permission.
“How long?” Shane's lips twitched as the last of the tension drained from him and he smiled.
“Gotta be more specific than that, how long what? Have we been fucking or what?” She snorted and Shane could practically see how she rolled her eyes.
“Girl, wait can I still say that?” Shane laughed.
“Yea, go on” She sighed but somehow He knew she was smiling.
“Girl, How long has this all been going on? I want details and like to know everything.” She sounded excited and it made him smile remembering how she had said that there needed to be more gay hockey players.
“Well I’d say rookie year but I like to think Ilya would say summer before.” She was silent for a long time then she exhaled.
“Holy shit” She said it softly barely above a whisper but just loud enough for him to hear. “The whole time?” She sounded breathless and shane sighed.
“Yea” he said, sounding equally soft.
“How- how long have you been in love with him?” Shane was silent for a moment thinking it over.
“Probably since then.”
“Oh,” Shane hummed, swallowing thickly as he felt tears burning in his eyes.
“I think I hated him and loved him at the same time you know?”
After that they spoke for a long while and Shane felt like he could breath properly for the first time in a long time. As they were about to hang up Allie said;
“I hope you realize that this whole thing has done nothing but feed my delusions about all my other ships?” Shane laughed, shaking his head slightly he felt lighter.
“If this ever becomes public knowledge then you’ll at least have bragging rights”
