Summary:

Telamon Has Connections!
This goes over general information about Telamon, and descriptions of some of his myths.

Chapter Text

Telamon! Most of you could recognize that name from the ex-admin from roblox.

but Telamon is also the name of a character from greek mythology. ( Ancient Greek: Τελαμών )

GENERAL INFO OUT OF THE WAY:

-Telamon is the son of Aeacus (which, if you also recognize that name, is ALSO an ex-admin from roblox), king of Aegina. His mother was Endeïs, a Mountain nymph.

-Telamon is the older brother of Peleus. (IN SHORT: Peleus is a hero, king of Phthia, husband of Thetis and father of Achilles. Wikipedia link)

SO SOME FUN FACTS!

Due to the fact that Telamon is the older brother of Peleus, Telamon is Achilles' uncle.

Telamon sailed along with Jason as one of his Argonauts, and was there at the hunt for the Calydonian bear.

Both he and Peleus were good friends with Heracles (or Hercules (roman version)) and helped Heracles with his expeditions to the Amazons and his assault on Troy.

During the Iliad, Telamon was the father of Ajax the Great and Teucer by different mothers. Some accounts also state that Telamon had a third son, Trambelus.

MASSIVE BUT!

This is Greek mythology we're talking about. Things are generally bound to change ALL THE TIME! Take Tiresias generally being agreed upon to be a man turned into a woman by Hera and later getting blinded after seeing Athena bathing. But, in other versions, Tiresias got blinded by Hera after he stated that sex is more pleasurable for a woman when questioned by Zeus and Hera on if sex was better or more pleasurable as a man or woman. (They were asking Tiresias, because he had experienced both.) Zeus said women, Hera said men.

So, what was an alternate version of Telamon?

For starters, (in an earlier account recorded by Pherecydes of Athens) Telamon wasn't the brother of Peleus but they were friends. and Telamon was the son of Actaeus and Glauce, with the latter being the daughter of Cychreus, king of Salamis.

Telamon later married Periboea (Eriboea), daughter of King Alcathous of Megara.

MYTHS!!!!

-After killing their half-brother Phocus (son of Aeacus and Psamathe), Telamon and Peleus fled Aegina and made their way to the island of Salamis, where King Cychreus welcomed Telamon and befriended him. But then Telamon married his daughter, Periboea, who then gave birth to Ajax.

Some time later, Cychreus gave Telamon his kingdom... oh, you're asking why? I HAVE NO FUCKING CLUE.

In other versions of the myth Cychreus' daughter is named Glauce, and Periboea is Telamon's second wife, and the daughter of Alcathous.

-Telamon also features in both versions of Heracles' sacking of Troy, which was ruled by King Laomedon (or Tros in the alternate versions). Before the Trojan War, Poseidon sent a sea monster to attack Troy.

- (In Apollodorus' Library) Telamon was almost killed during the siege of Troy. Telamon was the first one to break through the Trojan wall, which enraged Heracles as he was planning to do so for glory to himself. Heracles was about to kill him with his sword when Telamon began to quickly assemble an altar out of nearby stones in honor of Heracles. Heracles was so pleased, after the sack of Troy he gave Telamon Hesione as a wife. Hesione requested that she be able to bring her brother Podarces with her. Heracles would not allow it unless Hesione bought Podarces as a slave. Hesione paid for her brother with a veil. Podarces' name was then changed to Priam – which, according to Greek author Apollodorus, was derived from the Greek phrase "to buy".

thats the most important info about telamon, have a nice day, night or midday)))
