Only one person will die.The person who loves her most can choose to give their life for her, or choose to let her die.
If the police are called, she will be killed.
If anyone else finds out, she will be killed.
Only the one who loves her most can take her place.There were instructions. A place to go, alone.
A very clear stipulation that the location was being watched. That if you were bugged, or tracked, or followed, Maddie would die.
OR -
A serial killer kidnaps Maddie and leaves a note for the person who loves her most to trade places with her. Buck is only too willing to be the one to do it.

Summary
