Left with the pain of losing the one she loves on top of deciding the fate of the world, Minako is suffering. Feeling cut off from her friends, isolated and bullied at school, she wonders if the world really is worth fighting for, if it wouldn't just be easier to give in to Apathy Syndrome like the rest of the world slowly is.
One bad day, however, four friends take it upon themselves to remind her that she's not as alone as she feels. She has a life outside SEES, and people who care about her, and are ready to pay her back for all her time spent maxing out their Social Links.

Five years later, Nier has returned. Kaine has awakened. The Knave of Hearts is dead. It should have been a triumphant day, even if Yonah is still missing, but any hope of celebration is soured when the village casts out Kaine and Emil out of fear. Nier stands up for his friends, but is unable to sway them. Kaine and Emil, ashamed of their appearance and the fear that they've induced in otherwise innocent people, retire to the plains outside the city walls to wait for Nier, and maybe do some catching up themselves.
Kaine is used to being treated like a monster. As far as she's concerned, she is a monster. But one thing she's realized is that beneath Emil's frightening exterior is the same impossibly good kid. He doesn't deserve this. For all he's fought and lost, he doesn't deserve their scorn.
She can't give him the recognition he deserves, and she's never been good with words, but Kaine still wants to do something nice for one of the only friends she's ever had.
