    Two grainy images of their faces appear: Cal, sporting a new lightsaber burn across his face and Vos with his dreads flying loose and wild. They must have been taken from the Senate security footage.

    “Did we make things worse? I think we made them worse.” Cal drags his knees up to his torso and hugs his arms around them. He continues to intently watch the Coruscant newsfeed. 

    “…and now, we now go to Reporter Delshie on Naboo, where protests have broken out across the planet…."

    Vos just takes another swig of his Corellian whisky. 

    Two psychometric Jedi receive an assortment of items from the Force. Each object contains echoes, or memories, that tell of a future to come. And it is a very dark future indeed…

    Mace Windu was many things, but a morning person was not one of them. Nevertheless, the Force had deemed the ass-end of dawn to be an appropriate time to drag him out of bed and into the gardens. Not that he didn’t enjoy the scenery, but after returning from a grueling diplomatic endeavour-turned hostage negotiation not even three hours ago, he’d rather enjoy the pitch-black setting of his room.

    Still, he was a Jedi and, as such, Mace’s duty would always be to follow the will of the Force. Today, it decided to lead him towards the forested areas where two younglings were huddled together at the base of a large tree, sleeping.

    Mace tended not to spend a lot of time in the creche, but he recognized the Kiffar child as his friend Tholme's unconventional Padawan. Quinlan Vos, he believed his name was. The other boy was a scrawny redhead with deeper bags under his eyes than most grown adults and the Force drew his attention to this boy in particular.

    (In which Knight Windu meets five-year-old Kenobi and six-year-old Vos and, while some things stay the same, everything changes.)

    As the title implies, this now completed fic is just a novelized version of the amazing Star Wars Jedi: Survivor video game. This labor of love is for the fans who wish to experience this beautiful story in written format, on the go, or for those who may not have had the time or opportunity to experience playing the game. In it you can follow Jedi Cal Kestis on his continued journey through the galaxy and now experience it through the various view points of multiple characters - though Cal is still the prominent voice throughout. While this novelization sticks very closely to the game and includes all the major story beats and in-game dialogue [and action-filled gameplay mechanics], I’ve also taken the liberty to expand and add moments that enhance transitional points in the story or further flesh out our characters.     Cal snorts. “What,” he croaks, “I have to get better so you can be the one to break me instead?”

    Akuna pauses for a moment, then shrugs and nods. “Pretty much.”
