Loki’s illusion hovered neatly above his reflection: a falcon, wings shifting with the wind. Thor’s image was unstable, lightning flashing in the wrong places, the shape flickering and faltering.
“Try again,” Loki said, voice tight with exasperation but softened by patience. “You’re thinking too loud again. Feel it. Less thunder, more thread.”
“I am feeling it,” Thor snapped, running a hand through his damp hair, heat rising under his skin. The image collapsed with a hiss of steam. “It doesn’t stay.”
Loki groaned, rising with a frustrated sigh. “You’re pushing it, not shaping it. It’s like trying to paint with a hammer.”
“Maybe that’s all I have,” Thor muttered, voice low, breath uneven. “Maybe I’m not meant for this.”
