This is everything I ever wanted and I'm super surprised I never bookmarked the series. No wonder I never realized this was continued in a third part.
Anyway, I read part 2 In Good Company a while ago but part three just made me reread it all, and though I can say Sasuke deserves hell for what he's done, and the ghosts are super great background comic relief, the fact that- well. There's a reason why the supernatural in this fic is so dark. Funny and charming at times, and weirdly poetic for a fic about Sasuke's terrible life, this is amazing. My heart races just thinking of the part with Sasuke going to fight his brother. My heart aches at the part where Naruto exits stage left.
And now in the third part, my heart is just - shattering for Sasuke, for the ghosts, for Naruto. Like, I totally want some SasuNaru man, but - I don't think Sasuke really deserves Naruto either. Like. He's amazing in the fic, a hero pretty much, but he drinks and smokes and sleeps around and oh, yeah, he’s a killer but everyone is in this world. Still. Our sunshine son is leagues above him. And everyone knows it, and yet, like me, we can't help but like this bastard. I mean, he's a hardass but he teaches well apparently, he inspires loyalty despite everything he is, and - seriously, he's basically Senju's son. Both of them. Somehow raised by them in the months (years?) seeing them in part 2 and then learning poetry and the piano and practical stuff as a ninja like wtf man. He has all these tools to be worth Naruto, and yet, I'm just like - no. He's not. He can't be.
ahhhhhh this series drives me nuts
Not to mention the small dynamics between everyone and everything. The Snake Clan that somehow adopted Sasuke (seriously, Rin, I understand. This bastard child just can't be let go of, he's horrible but like - he's also precious?). Unit 3 (Shika, Shino, Neji and Kiba of all people) adopted Sasuke. Like wtf man this is amazing how I can't believe the journey when I write it all down but it all make sense as we go along the plot???
