She’s afraid to ask, but the guard’s gradual shift in tone—strict and no nonsense, to almost hesitant—and her own undying curiosity get the better of her.
“What for?”
“Strangling a guard with her braid. She was quite unhappy to hear that she has a new bunkmate.”

Surely assassinations should mean something?
Along with the rest of the 'Wednesday' dramatis personae, this AU explores a version of Wednesday and Enid who still meet at school, but one of a very different kind. The stakes are deadlier, but so too might their emergent feelings be. Will one of them get 'taken out' by the other, before they can get 'taken out' instead?

Enid knows she isn't the best at making good decisions. In fact, she has a bad habit of ending up on someone's list, be it because of an article or the way she supposedly looked at them one time, consequences just seem to find her, especially in the last few months. Really, she should have known that something was going to go awry, as it had been pretty smooth recently, one second, she's researching an article, the next, she's in a dark room on the other end of a blaster. However, one thing Enid has always believed in was her ability to always just make it out of whatever screwed up situation she finds herself in, only this time she wasn't expecting something to come to her aid so soon, at least that's what it looks like anyway.
This is my first shot at writing a fanfic, so it's gonna be bad, but if my janky writing piques your interest, stick around, it might finish, eventually. No idea on update timeframes, other than it may be biweekly.
