Summary
Seresins are warriors. They die young, and they die bloody. They’ve got a debt somewhere one of them forgot to write down, and now the rest of them are paying the price.
Jake Seresin comes from a long line of fighters and desperados and gets an itch under his skin whenever he stops moving. Seresins are a law unto themselves, and great men have tried to make it otherwise and failed.
Bradley Bradshaw was born with roots so deep the shifting of the tectonic plates can’t move them. There are mountain ranges less stubborn and more self-aware than he is.
Javier Machado has beaten Bradley Bradshaw into the ground exactly three times in his life before the idiot finally realized. It might have been a bit extra, but Javy knows where all the bodies on the Seresin Ranch are buried.

“Where is…”
“Downstairs,” says Jake, immediately, saving Javy the embarrassment of having to finish his sentence out loud. Like he’s looking for Bradshaw. Like he misses Bradshaw. What a joke. “Grabbing a coffee. He has to leave in about half-an-hour to debrief on base.”
