If there was one thing about Orion Pax that anyone who had ever crossed paths with him knew, it was that the mech had the gift of the gab. Give the miner bot an inch, he would take a mile. He was aware of this little flaw, he had enough self awareness to reign it in when needed, but most times he would obliviously begin a tirade on whatever topic came to mind or interested him in that given moment.
That and it seemed to help whenever he found himself in deep slag. This was one of those times.

Ratchet thought he had it made. He had his own place, his career was booming, and he was happily single after swearing off love; but it turns out that being awesome at your job (as a politician) is a great way to put a target on your back. After being threatened with a bullshit lawsuit, he is given a rather absurd choice; go toe to toe with the mysterious enemy he’s made set on burning his life’s work down, or enter into an arranged bond with the newly crowned Prime.
Enraged at the audacity, he signs the contract. But Ratchet isn’t one to take things lying down. He shows up on his fiancé’s doorstep ready for anything…or so he thought.
As it turns out, he wasn’t prepared for his conjux-to-be to be a genuinely nice guy that loves to cook and hates the government just as much as he does. And he never would have thought he would find him to be so charming. It would be a nice surprise if only pieces of his past that he’s done everything in his power to bury would stop coming back to ruin the mood.

After leaving at the end of the Great War, Drift—formerly Deadlock—returns to Cybertron one and a half million years later to a thriving utopia. The newfound peace caught him by surprise, but not as shocking as seeing Ratchet, the notoriously grumpy hardworking medic, finally enjoying a carefree life.
With no duties, or faction wariness between them, Drift hoped that maybe they could rekindle a lost friendship. This time, he wouldn’t ask for more than what Ratchet could give him.
Ratchet biggest regret was letting go of Drift once. Now that he’s returned, his spark (and also his best friend Wheeljack) kept screaming at him to shoot his shot. He was determined to do just that, but fear and cowardice struck him the moment they met again. Yes, he still loved Drift, but Ratchet had hurt him too. What rights does he have to take him back?

Summary
A Prime should be supported, they tell him. A Prime should have advisors and allies, those who will stand behind him as he rules. These allies should be intelligent, varied in their talents, with a connection to the people of Cybertron, one more easily forged than the leader who stands above. They are to help shoulder the burden, to keep their Prime standing tall. They are meant to be more than berthmates.
Optimus Prime has ten, by far, the most a single Prime has engaged. Cybertron has grown, so many of the city-states vying for power, each of them desperate to have their nominated individual stand beside the Prime. The Senate, in their infinite wisdom, had only been able to restrain themselves to ten.
One month after accepting the Matrix, Optimus meets his new consorts, and begins the process of convincing them he's a much better mech than his predecessors. That he values each and every one of them. That he wants their help to create a new, better Cybertron.
It's not going to be easy. But Optimus is more than sure they are all worth the effort.

Summary
When peace decides it's time and all one can do is go along with it, it can leave some people with a lot of free moments for thinking about things that aren't war. Things about life, love, existential crises and the unresolved tension you have with the mech you've been in conflict with for over four million years. Maybe it leaves enough free time to deal with other things, too. Things you didn't even know you needed to deal with and might prefer you never, ever knew.
But when has Optimus Prime ever been allowed to work through his issues in a healthy way that doesn't create a potential diplomatic incident? Right about now, if Jazz (and Megatron) has anything to say about it.

A little huff drew him back to the present, to the future, to the small space between them on that balcony. “How easy it is to lose you in a conversation,” Megatron said. “One might think I was not engaging enough for you.”
“You never had trouble keeping me engaged before,” Optimus replied with a raised brow of his own. “Perhaps you are no longer capable of rising to the challenge of holding my attention.”
