Summary
The under-city was a place constantly growing, trapped within stone...they needed to expand, yet where was there to expand to?
It was difficult to open up new passageways; the folks working within the mining sector needed knowledge of the under-city, of its many winding tunnels, where it was strong, where the walls weakened, where the force of bedrock held, where the stone might crumble away.
It wasn't as though TFC thought he was anything particularly special, even if the labs had insisted to the contrary when they'd approached him a few years ago. Those bright young faces trying to rebuild their world after Anarchy...and well, if a few more swings of a pickaxe from an old man like him would help the city he'd watched collapse put itself together again, then he could put off retirement for a couple years more.{In which TFC knows the tunnels, the labs need his help, and a redstone pallet and a steady salary certainly help, but he was convinced from the moment they said he was the only person who could do the job.}

Summary
Pix was getting what was good for him. He was getting paid, and the labs were a shield against anything too terrible happening to him, so long as he was careful. He turned a blind eye to the things that made his heart feel heavy....but hey, this city was broken long before he was even born. There was no reason for him to shoulder the burden of trying to fix it. Maybe if it had mattered so much, his predecessors ought not to have so irreversibly screwed it all up in the first place. Then again, it wasn’t all their fault, either. Only so much you could do, in a place like this, with bedrock and secrets, straining and lies. It was enough to give anyone pause.
Pix tried not to do much pausing, though. That is, until he accidentally saves a little voidwalker from plunging to his death, gets his wallet stolen, buys some sandwiches, and witnesses the anarchy. As it would turn out, those were all such horrible things...but maybe...no, definitely...they were blessings in disguise.

She came too like climbing up from deep water. It took time to sort out the groggy state, but surely it was shorter than she believed because things slowly started to move back into focus. It had really been ridiculous to trust them outright.
But Bdubs deserved so much more out of them than this. To have the little boy taking care of them for all these years…knowing he was putting himself in danger for them. It was really a wild thing, to have so fully embraced the fact that she was Bdubs’ mother. It had been years already since they’d first met in that trash heap, and Bdubs had saved their life. She’d sworn to protect him next time. Yet with their nonfunctioning augment, it was impossible. There was nothing she could do about it.
It was pure frustration. Maybe that was why she was willing to throw caution to the wind and trust the towering creeper mutant whom Bdubs had dragged back with him today? It would be better than just continuing to be a weight upon this little boy she'd come to love so dearly, and so, it was just fine.{In which Cleo has some questions, Bdubs loves his Mom, Doc and Etho are scheming, and it feels good to finally carry some weight}

Jimmy might be in a little too deep.
Not like he can run away now, considering Scott knows his biggest secret. An avian, a hybrid living illegally in the over-city. He'd been terrified of letting that truth come to light, but now that it had, it was oddly...mundane. Comfortable. Because Scott was over at his apartment after work, and they were talking about all sorts of things, and Jimmy's wings were folded neatly from the seams in his tee shirt, and again it felt like everything he'd never been allowed to have. He just had to hope exposure therapy would save him from blushing up to his tiny wingtips every time Scott lidded his blue eyes and aimed words tender, soft, and slow.
Somehow he doubted it. Then again, he'd never thought these three little words in that particular order would ever leave his lips toward someone like this.
So yeah. First time for everything.{In which Jimmy doesn't own a bed, Scott is a notorious smooth-talking tee-shirt thief, and three little words change things for the both of them.}

Tango worshiped the Gods, it wasn’t a common thing to do anymore as they all disappeared but he was one of the few who still did, I mean it brought him some good, he mostly worshipped the God of Love and his husband the God of Flowers and Nature Life. Those two just seemed the most natural to warship, he didn’t know why but they did. However from all the texts Tango read on them it always felt like something was missing from their relationship he just couldn’t tell what.

He doesn't think it's that uncommon to follow a god, certainly not worth the look of terror on Grian's face when Xisuma explains that his patron is a Watcher named Xelqua.
