Monoco looked a wreck. He didn't tend to preen himself beyond the bare minimum that was required, preferring to wake up, shower, and throw his hair back into a tie tight enough to last the day and for his duties at the Grace. Here, now, it was all out of place, his tie gone or broken and his hair sticking to his jaw in places. With alarm, Gustave noticed the cut and the bruises to his neck. The pink hue that had dyed some parts of his hair, the blood on his shirt—
"It's not mine," came the gruff response, breaking the silence. Gustave couldn't stop his flinch either way, coming into the room proper to approach his gruff partner. "It belongs to some fucking bastards. Slipped something in his drink."

Summary
It felt like home, a real home that was just theirs, and they'd only been too happy to call it an early evening.
Having Verso in his arms was surreal after all these months of dating, of dancing around the topic and gaining increasing ground in the other's apartment. At least until a week ago, when Verso's lease finally ended and he'd settled into Gustave's humble abode.
Gustave breathed, a content hum escaping him as he settled with lazy kisses to Verso's neck. The omega's scent was never particularly strong, its earthy scents easily masked by the cologne he sometimes wore instead. Here, now, in their bed — theirs, theirs! — it was prominent, a gentle thing that smelled like calm and home with a delicate sweetness.

Summary
Gustave could give less of a fuck what Verso Dessendre has been up to now that Lumiere has been restored and Maelle is dutifully taking breaks out of the canvas as per the agreement she struck with her family. But when Gustave finds Verso, broken and dying in an alleyway he finds himself worrying about the man he hates. And finding himself desperate to learn more about the man.
And if maybe the happily ever after Maelle gave Verso with a re-painted Julie is more torture than gift.
Perhaps Gustave can give Verso an ending he deserves. -

Gustave dies at Renoir's hand on the Stone Wave Cliffs. Then Gustave opens his eyes to the sound of a cane striking stone at the edge of the Continent. He dies again, he opens his eyes again. Again, again, and again, until he gets it right.

Summary
Clea decides to destroy Verso, believing him too unpredictable to be left alone. Unfortunately for her, his chroma is tied to the very heart of the Canvas. So she neutralizes him the only way she can, separating his chroma, his spirit, from his body.
Now, forced to exist as a ghost in the Canvas, Verso watches over Maelle and tries to find a way to set things right. It gets worse before it gets better. How can he save his mother or help his sister, when he’s nothing but a fading echo of a man he can never be?

Summary
Monoco sighs. There are no marks on his body, of course, but he can see — the bloodstains on the ropes, the long-burned campfire with an iron rod lying in it. The gag, not compatible with a real interrogation. Most importantly — Verso’s evasiveness; barely hidden fear in the pale eyes that refuse to look up.
“Questions”. Sure.
He finishes with most of the ropes, feeling relief that it’s almost over — and stops, trying to comprehend what he is looking at.
Or: Monoco finds Verso after a rough encounter with an expedition. Freeing him turns out to be more complicated than any of them was ready for.
