Summary
Refuge; “shelter or protection from danger or distress.” Originating from Old French refuge “hiding place”, from Latin refugium. This was one among many of the misleading words taught to Lucy during the elocution lessons of her early years. Before refuge there had been elocution, home, and illness. What began as a mere cold quickly became influenza. Lucy’s home, once filled with the laughter of her brother and two sisters, became a quiet, desolate place. Friends who had promised to always stay by her, turned their backs without a word. At the end of all this, after orphanage, runaway, urchin, and alone there was the Refuge.

Summary
Horror formed in the pit of Dazai's stomach as he watched Atsushi’s hands transform into claws. He watched as those claws started dragging bloody caverns down the hollows of Atsushi’s throat.
Still, Atsushi was screaming, even as Dazai ran forward. The boy had flinched at his touch but now Dazai had no choice, trying his best to ignore the painful twist in his chest at Atsushi’s pleading cries to please please, don’t touch me. Don’t touch me. Don’t touch- as he slapped his hands around Atsushi’s claws, activating No Longer Human without a second's delay.

“Who am I?” Dazai asked. “Who am I to you?”
“You’re-” Atushi faltered, “You’re Dazai Osamu, leader of the Port Mafia. You’re my boss,” there was another pause, “And you’re supposed to be dead.”
