In truth, the blame lies within both, something deep and primal that they have forgotten lies in wait for the moment it could rear its head, something that invades the mind and releases the chains holding down long-hidden feelings. "Hey, bud, have you ever tried to shapeshift into your monkey form without the power behind it?"
"Huh? Whatcha mean by that?"
"I'm saying that you can probably shapeshift into your little monkey form and not have to fear destroying the mountain again!" Wukong bit into a peach with his characteristic cheeky smirk as he did. "You'll be able to get comfortable using it so that in the future, if you ever need it, you'll have more control than ever before!"
"I... never thought of that. I guess I can try it!"
"Haha, yeah! I'm gonna have sooooo much fun teaching you stuff!" The Monkey King laughed, his tail gripping a branch as he let himself fall and hung upside down, as if showing what MK may be able to do someday.
And so, MK set off to try just that. It was a short conversation, but one that would change how he would see himself from then on.
Who would've guessed being a monkey was so fun... and lead to more mysteries?

Summary
The very first clue about the things that he has never realized about the king was the faint smell of peaches that are just the perfect amount of ripe. Which should be normal if it’s not also emits a concerning amount of discomfort that should not be there if it's just normal scent.
Because the common misconception people have about the Monkey King is to immediately think that he is an alpha. Even if the very book of Journey to The West itself did casually state his second gender as a beta. A very fitting for someone that is not particularly interested in most of the love affairs happening within the book. Nor do they ever mention anything about him being keen on scent or giving any symptoms of needing time for … private affairs involving his gender identity.
A beta should not emit scent, they might go for perfume, but that certainly does not explain the emotion attached to the faint smell that emits from Wukong right now.

Listen closely, his body seems to whisper, and all at once, Macaque becomes aware of another strange sensation stirring to life inside him, humming its arrival with a shiver. It’s not entirely unpleasant, but it aches somehow, aches in a restless sort of way, almost like loneliness, but if it were more...physical. Macaque instinctively raises his arms to wrap them around himself, squeezing his biceps gently, and somehow the feeling gets stronger as his body cries out for...something.
He thinks...he wants somebody to touch him.
Macaque’s body betrays him.

Summary
Since their day out on the beach after the things that had happened in the scroll, Wukong came to the rather silly realization that he needs somewhere to live. His hut had gotten–kinda– very destroyed in their fight with Azure, and he doesn't feel like sleeping in his trees anymore.
He can't ask the kid. His apartment is barely big enough for him to live comfortably in. He can't ask any of his old 'pals' hense the problem.
Mk suggests that he asks Macaque. But there was no way they could live together until his place was fixed. Right?

The current of wind tugs at his clothes and blows snow in his eyes, howling something chilling and mournful as it goes. Once it settles, Wukong shakes the snowflakes from his fur, blinks them from his lashes, and huffs a foggy breath.
Before he can turn to head back to the beckoning warmth of the couch, though, something catches his eye. There’s a pocket of darkness out on the mountain, stark against the snow. He squints for a better look, tail flicking curiously from side to side.
Really, he should have guessed from the beginning. There’s only one thing, one person, that brings darkness to his mountain.”
