Summary
Tim might’ve said things started to really go off the rails around when he got stabbed. And honestly, that sucked, yeah, but it was well within the bounds of normal-bad for a night like this.
No, things started to go seriously bad when Jason’s helmet got hit by the mini-EMP device the gang of thieves had been using to try to take down the bank’s security systems. If he hadn’t lost his helmet, everything that happened afterward would’ve been so much less awful.

The Asset is being prepped for cryo when the shit hits the fan.
The fan in question is the Manhattan base of Hydra operations, currently housed in the experimental laboratory of a government-funded bioengineering company near Central Park. The shit takes the form of a gigantic alien whale, which crash-lands to a slow, skidding halt with its front end lodged firmly in a top-secret vault. It gives a few weak death throes, makes a noise like a deflating blimp, and dies.

There was a boy under a thin white sheet and a beige blanket, with an IV in his arm and his hands wrapped in gauze. His face was pale and his dark hair curled at the ends. There was a tiny, pale scar that curved over the left underside of his cheek he’d taken from a flashing knife his third week in the mask. Bruce had almost benched him then and there. The kid had argued it was just a nick, hadn’t let Alfred stitch it up just to prove it wasn’t that bad. Otherwise, maybe it wouldn’t have scarred.
It was Jason.

He comes to a stop just a couple feet ahead of Dick, blocking his view of the door. One hand lifts to rest on a hip, concerningly close to the hilt of the knife strapped to his thigh. "You? A little harder to steal than a box of kryptonite."
