Klavier didn’t even notice.
Hunched over his desk, thinking over the case and what the defense might say or do, a sharp rap of knuckles on his partially open door made him look up. He didn’t even have time to call them to enter, before Chief Prosecutor Edgeworth stepped through.
“Do you still have copies of the files from last week’s trials? There has been an… incident during the transfer.” Edgeworth heaved a sigh, the kind that Klavier knew from experience was likely due to some mishap from a too eager rookie detective.
Klavier opened his mouth to tell him he did, only for nothing more but a weak rasp to leave his lips.

Summary
There’s something peculiar, in Edgar’s opinion, about loving the world’s greatest detective.
When Edgar doesn’t have the energy to deduce things, Ranpo will tell him plainly, even if he’ll inevitably complain until Edgar smiles at him and offers to brush his hair in thanks. When Ranpo doesn’t want to figure something out, Edgar will do the same. It’s a promise they made before they’d even gotten together, in the weeks following the vampire incident, when Ranpo was trying too hard to make up for mistakes that weren’t his and Edgar wasn’t quite sure where he belonged.
So when Ranpo sits on the couch next to him in their home, bumping his shoulder into Edgar’s arm, and asks what’s wrong, Edgar answers.
“Do you want to get married, Ranpo-kun?”

One of the doors is opened, a figure stepping out with a cigarette in hand, but it’s quickly discarded when the detective catches sight of them. “Ranpo-san! And the American, too. Good, good, thank you for coming.”
“Minoura! Where’s my crime scene? Did they really think a ghost was stealing their stuff? Bah, people are so stupid, what would a ghost do with jewelry?”
“They think a ghost is the culprit?” Poe wonders, frowning.
“Stupid,” Ranpo agrees.
“Did you both get it all out of your systems?” Minoura sighs, “let’s talk inside. Just– the wife is a little shaken with everything that’s going on, so.”
“Of course, we won’t comment on how foolish that conclusion was,” Poe nods solemnly, “people can be excused some absurdities in the throes of emotion, I believe.”
“No promises,” Ranpo pushes past them, cheerfully slipping inside.
