Summary
The Long Quiet, god made to rid the world of death, must first learn the true horror of permanent finality before they accept their purpose to overcome it.
"In life, I was painfully mortal. A witness to the end of days. I held the fear of death in my heart, and saw oblivion threaten the very memory of everything I knew and everyone I loved. I needed to do something."
The point of no return was crossed too many lifetimes ago. In truth, they only ever had one real, genuine chance to save everyone, and the second they stepped off the path was the moment they killed Him. Watching Him shatter before their eyes now echoing the same sentiment flooding through them at the sight... is simply karma long overdue.
That doesn't mean they, too, don't feel a need to do something.
Or...
A cursory examination of the futility and desperation of the Long Quiet's final interactions with and perspective on the Narrator.

Summary
Life is hard for Elias Bouchard. It hasn't been hard for almost 20 years, because with a 200-year-old egomaniac occultist puppetting his body as part of a long-term plan to break the world, Elias hasn't been able to really, well, do anything.
But now Jonah's gone, and Elias doesn't know why. He doesn't know if Gertrude's body, dragged into the tunnels below the Institute with his own hands, is going to be found and have him put in jail for a crime he cannot explain. He doesn't know which of Jonah's spooky collection of magical allies and enemies will kill him immediately if they find out he's not Jonah. He doesn't know what the Big Apocalypse Plan is, or how to stop it. He doesn't know who he can trust.
Elias has one goal: stay alive. You'd think that spending two decades watching the machinations of somebody who'd survived this kind of nonsense for two centuries would've taught him something, made this easy.
It didn't.

Summary
Elias hires a monster to work in the archives. One small decision that shouldn't make much of a difference.
Until someone's putting googly eyes over everything in the Institute, Melanie's having pizza parties to save the almost-life of a manifestation of the Stranger, Sasha's writing off payments for illegal phone hacks as a work expense, and Tim's trying to figure out how many helium balloons one needs to fill the boss' office with in order to get fired.
Oh yeah, and they still need to save the world.

Summary
An unspoken origin, a story told without a Narrator, hidden away in the contours of the Long Quiet.
A lone Someone who wished to truly exist, yearning to be real and to be heard.
