Summary
When the day started, Kelly didn't put much thought into it. It was just a normal shift, a normal day, until he noticed an unfamiliar Floater walk out of the Firehouse. His mind freezes on the man. A topical Floater doesn't look like that. Look at those arms. A topical Floater doesn't treat the station he subbing at with that much dedication and care, but Evan Buckley isn't like your normal floater.
Kelly attempts small talk, not his favorite thing, with the quiet and withdrawn Floater; however, any attempt of friendship is ignored. Buckley just keeps to himself and makes no attempts to engage with the rest of Firehouse 51 or any Firehouse he floats at.
Who is this man? Why is he keeping everyone at arm's length? Why is he on edge all the time? Why does the word Family cause a visceral reaction?

After five years, Buck is finally returning to Chicago to pay his last respects to his fallen brother, Otis, after the tragedy in the mattress factory.
