Technically his soon-to-be-fiancé, but that seems like too much to explain to this stranger.
Now the man looks bewildered. “Fiancé??”
“Ah yes, Jiang Wanyin,” Lan Xichen explains.
The man’s face contorts then, going through an entire sequence of emotion in a short period of time. Lan Xichen notices shock, then confusion, then horrified understanding, before finally ending in anger.
“WHAT THE FUCK??” he yells.

Summary

Unable to face reality on his own, he imagines San Lang beside him, accompanying him on his travels. Gradually, he forgets that San Lang isn't real.
Then, Xie Lian ascends for the third time, and San Lang starts acting a little strange.
