Summary
Hornet holds various fabric clippings to Lace’s side, eyeballing length, testing give in pulsating stretches. Lace’s lips run faster than her thoughts, her opinions provided without any prompting. Some colors are too vibrant, some materials too itchy. Hornet reminds her that this is temporary for the second, third, fourth time.
“May I?”

Hornet sat on her knees, her claws braced there. Lace had draped herself against Hornet's back. Where Lace's arms slipped under Hornet's cloak to wrap around her middle, she felt the familiar fine threads of that shell, winding in layers and layers, into the incomparable artifice that lay against Hornet's jointed carapace.
A stray thought, itself familiar: for how long? What may happen, that you will come to forget?

Summary
While in the depths of Old Aperture, Chell and GLaDOS began a begrudging alliance and an uneasy truce. Now, it continues.
Mere months after Chell was ejected from Aperture, the landscape is blanketed in a frigid, post-apocalyptic winter, and Chell returns to the only place nearby that can withstand it. With a new truce in place, she resumes her life at the Enrichment Centre, in a (usually) much less life-threatening way than before. Meanwhile, GLaDOS continues to struggle with her feelings— unable to accept that she might feel more than just loathing toward a certain mute lunatic.
