The first thing Chuuya noticed about him after getting over the fact that he was supposed to be Dazai's new Akutagawa was that Atsushi was skinny. The second thing was that Atsushi wasn't Akutagawa. The third thing was the inherent homoeroticism to treat Atsushi for lunch dates while complaining about Dazai.
And now, Chuuya found himself helping The Weretiger not dying from malnutrition behind the Port Mafia's back, since Dazai was apparently not doing anything.

“Because apparently the only way Dazai could get us into the banquet was submitting a couple. The ability user is in Yokohama and we don’t know his exact identity or appearance. If we aren’t believable, he’ll know something is off. Both of us are fairly recognizable for who we are, or at least I am. There has to be another reason for us to be there.”
[Akutagawa and Atsushi are tasked with a joint Armed Detective Agency-Port Mafia mission in which they have to fake date. Dazai says so.]

-but his hand never met it.
One moment, Atsushi was about to touch his shoulder. The next, Dazai's hand shot out and gripped Atsushi's wrist hard- hard enough to bruise- while he used his other arm to pick himself up a bit from the couch. And perhaps it was just strange lighting or Atsushi's fear deceiving his eyes but he, even through his shock, fear, and stillness-
...could've sworn that Dazai's eyes had taken on a red hue.

Dazai walks into the agency and clearly isn't okay. Atsushi tries helping him which eventually leads to Dazai getting a panic attack bcus he accidently hurt him.

Dazai has been avoiding him.
Ever since their last case together, Atsushi has felt like Dazai doesn’t even want to acknowledge his existence. It’s almost as if Dazai can’t stand to stay in the same room as him anymore, ignoring him and sparing him no more than a low hum whenever Atsushi tries to greet him.
(Or, Dazai feels unnecessarily guilty and Atsushi has to talk some sense into him.)

His eyes flitted to the gravestone he was standing in front of, and his heart skipped a beat. His grip on the gun grew a little bit tighter.
