When Luke was sixteen, he overheard the emperor's plans to steal a tiny Force sensitive child and saves him first, before being caught and dragged back to his masters' keeping.
When Luke was eighteen, he finds that same child on Gideon's cruiser, and spares both him and his family, including a silver clad Mandalorian.
And when Luke was twenty-four, he is captured by the Rebellion (captured or did he just let it happen? Really up for debate) and secretly sent as a prisoner to Mandalore, where Mand'alor Din Djarin rebuilds his planet and raises his son.

The ceremony is surreal, like an out of body experience. She walks up a makeshift aisle, the crowd parting to watch her, to take her measure. She’s aware a priest of some sort says words that hush the crowd, but she can’t understand them. She throws a glance over her shoulder, where her mother is bleary eyed but stone faced. She shakes her head almost imperceptibly but she doesn’t interrupt or object. She knows their survival hinges on this.
She turns back to the priest, barely glancing at the man next to her, but his presence feels overwhelming. His breathing is even, he doesn’t fidget like she suddenly realises she is. He smells a bit spicy, a little heavy. Foreign. She nearly jumps when he shifts on his feet and brushes against her arm, the heat of him searing her skin.
Her eyes are firmly fixed ahead as the priest starts proceedings, as he chants prayers that she can’t decipher. She can only pick out certain words, and they all make her blood still in her veins. Death, fight, blood. If there is a word for love in trigedasleng she doesn't know it.

Lance furrowed his brows in confusion. “What?”
Hunk gestured to his neck, and Lance winced.
“Um- no, it was just. You know,” he said with a shrug and Hunk nodded in understanding.
“Oh. So when did you pick Shiro up?” He asked, changing the subject.
“Last night,” Lance said, biting his lip, watching as Hunk frowned in confusion.
“But I thought-?” Lance gave him a look. “Wait- Shiro?”
“Don’t tell anyone,” Lance sighed. Why couldn’t he have just told Shiro not to leave marks? Why did anyone have to know about this? “It was just sex. A one time thing, and we were drunk.”
Needless to say, it was not just sex, and it was not a one time thing. Falling in love was not on Lance’s agenda.
