Sighing, the older woman cups her daughter’s cheek with her hand, “But, as a mother, I can’t imagine not loving your own daughter any possible way. And I can’t fathom either how it must feel to know that there’s something that’s so intrinsically you, something that you can’t prevent or change… And to know that if that exact same thing got out it would mean that the people who are supposed to love you unconditionally would change the way they perceive you, the way they love you - I just think it must be really scary.”
“That’s not to say that everything she does is justified, of course,” Eleanor carries on when the heavy moment passes, “You are entitled to your own hurt, and it’s not your responsibility to deal with hers, too. But I know you, and I know that if you push too hard now you’ll regret it later because you are good at heart, Kate. So, don’t be too harsh with her, that’s all my advice.”

"You can ask anything," she assured her."I feel like kissing you all the time, but I believe that I cannot follow that impulse at school, and... maybe it will be easier if we establish a number."
Mina smiled and thought before answering. Not because she was doubting or considering whether accepting or not, but because she found this adorable. She couldn't help but compare this situation with her previous experience. Having someone hiding her and then denying her making her feel so small to having now someone who cares enough to sit down and write the guidelines of their relationship felt overwhelming in a positive way.
"A number... okay," she smiled tilting her head at Chaeyoung. "How about a hundred?"
When she said that, Chaeyoung immediately started laughing. Mina loved her laugh although it always came in the least expected moments.
"You're funny," Chaeyoung said recovering from her laughter. "You meant it as a joke, right?"
"So you wouldn't like to kiss a hundred times a day?"
"Ah... well, yes." Chaeyoung blushed. "But that is not very practical is it?"
"Does our relationship have to be practical?" Don't misunderstand, Mina knew they could not kiss that much and she had indeed been joking, but she loved to get these answers out of Chaeyoung.
"Mh," Chaeyoung nodded without hesitation. "Yes, of course. I am not saying is the most important aspect of it. Because I know some impracticality is required in life. Idealistic prospers and all. But I want this to work, so we need useful and realistic routines. Practicality."
Mina smiled. 'in her terms, that might as well have been an I love you, right?' She could not get enough of this girl being so honest, so into her, so genuinely healthy. Chaeyoung felt like a remedy she could not get enough of.
"Not a hundred kisses then?"
"We could try one day," Chaeyoung was open to the idea even if it made her chuckle again. "As a challenge."
"Alright, sweetie," Mina nodded and fixed a strand of hair behind Chaeyoung's ear. She was giving her a break now. "Tell me a number for school then."
"I was thinking four," Chaeyoung looked at Mina maybe waiting for a complaint or something but Mina just nodded still looking at her with her head tilted. Mina felt so safe and relaxed talking like this with her. Honestly, Chaeyoung could have picked the number one and Mina would have been okay with it.
"Four seems good, explain," Mina said.
"One when we meet, then the other two might happen when we see each other during the day, probably lunch, then a goodbye kiss." Chaeyoung seemed to have put thought into this way before today.
Mina nodded slowly, thinking about it. "Okay, but that is just for school, right?"
"Yes."
"So... outside school, we can kiss all we want?"
"Uhm, yes," Chaeyoung nodded and was about to scratch her neck when Mina stopped her gently.
"I know," she said. "I know you mean at my place or yours. I was just playing around. I know you are not a fan of PDA and I'm not either and it's for the best, really." Of course Mina thought that. They could kiss either way probably, but not just anywhere. She was completely aware of that.
