Summary
In which TK records a video of Carlos, and things get a bit out of hand.
“Drop the phone,” Carlos tries now, as though TK is an armed criminal.
“Uh, no, Carlos, I’m not trying to crack my screen, you’re the one who’s always telling me to be more careful,” TK replies blithely, sliding his phone into his pocket.
“Nope! Jonah, go! Tickle attack, get him!”
While Jonah pounces, TK unlocks his phone again and sends the video to Andrea, then to his dad for good measure.
“Time for ice cream!” Jonah screams in Carlos’s face.
“Only if you stop tickling me! And TK doesn’t get any.”
TK and Jonah gasp in horrified unison. “That’s not nice, Papa.”
“Yeah, Papa, that’s not nice,” TK echoes.
“You’re not nice,” Carlos says darkly. “You’re a cyber criminal.”

Summary
Carlos's last call had gone very long, and when he could finally check his phone he was horrified to discover 8 missed calls and dozens of texts from TK, Owen, and assorted other members of the 126. He’s been able to gather that TK broke his foot, that TK is stupid, that Mateo was involved, that Mateo is stupid, that Buttercup had something to do with it, but it was absolutely not his fault, and there was a cat who might be a sweet baby angel (according to TK) but also might be the spawn of Satan. So Carlos is a little confused.
In which TK and Mateo get a cat out of a tree.

“I wish things were different.” – TK, 3x08 “In the Unlikely Event of an Emergency”
After making a wish in the aftermath of his mother’s death, TK wakes up in Manhattan, where he’s engaged to Alex and Gwyn is still alive. Although he remembers the life he had in Texas, no one else does. With everything turned upside down, he travels to Austin to find Carlos, because he knows that will make everything right, but when he gets there he finds that Carlos is in love with someone else.
TK is faced with a choice: stay in this new reality with the mother he adores, or return to his real life to be with Carlos and the people who know and love him. Or is there a way for him to have the best of both realities?

This was simply stunning. The way you described TK’s searing grief and depression (I’m assuming those meds were anti depressants), the slow transition to an unending ache, just putting one foot in front of the other, was so brilliant and poignant. And Carlos’s own loneliness, sorrow, and grief, his apologies and desire that everything happen on TK’s time—so moving. I loved the way the 126 held TK up and supported him through it all, the banter was wise cracking but with serious and caring undertones, and I’m so happy Owen moved home! Just ❤️❤️❤️this! Bookmarking! Thx for sharing❤️

I am rereading a lot of your bibliography Miss Tessa, and I cannot believe I never left a comment on this story!
You had me laughing out loud at parts! From Paul averring that oh yes, he definitely won lol, to TK threatening that his cop husband would arrest the landowner 😂😂., and many parts in between. Hilarious 😂
Loved how the pre-flop section planted the seed that Carlos may have wanted a traditional proposal, and got solidified after Nancy’s very vocal discussion about the proposal she expected. From that point on, I picture TK’s brain turning into a perpetual motion vortex of how he could make it so. Thwarted at every turn lol!
And so sweet that TK kept asking Carlos about his most perfect moment, and every time Carlos would answer the moment he was in, until the question never even had to vocalized or responded to….
“TK was having a conversation with Carlos. They knew each other well enough that Carlos’ input was not required for this. He filled in the gaps himself.

I love love love this, I say, wiping tears off my cheeks! What a beautiful way Jonah chose to thank TK.
But to back up, Charlie was really brave to talk to J the way she did, berating him for his behavior.
Loved the talk J had with TK, when he relayed that
“I guess it’s just hard for me to believe it when no one ever talks about the things that must have sucked for you.”
“Because no one wants you to feel guilty about something that wasn’t your fault.”
“But I do! Not talking about it makes me feel guilty, like there’s something you feel like you have to hide.”Oh, this made me smile —“Carlos is always a good distraction for TK. “
