Alhaitham shook his head. “Not dangerous. Just... difficult. The one or two successful records are described as -” he hesitated as he scanned the opposite page quickly. Intimate. Overwhelming. Like two souls intertwining. He snapped the book shut before Kaveh could read that far and cleared his throat again, more gruffly this time. “- a challenge.”
Stretching his arms above his head, Kaveh set his wrench down on their coffee table and straightened. “Well, let’s try it. If it doesn’t work, we’ll stop. Simple.”

Kaveh’s never felt the weight of Alhaitham’s gaze as much as he has this morning, bleeding into the afternoon. With every polite smile Kaveh gave, every nonsensical conversation he had, Alhaitham would be right behind him — brushing against the small of his back, against his arm as he’d reach out to grab something; fingertips lingering against the nape of his neck, the thin skin of his wrist when he’d find some paltry excuse to touch Kaveh.

The washing machine hums in the background as Kaveh slowly unravels everything he has ever known.
There are worse places to realize you are in love. There are also much better places. More romantic, at least. Not much is very romantic about the floor of a closet-turned-laundry room in your ex-best-friend-now-roommate’s condo; where Kaveh is currently sprawled. It smells strongly of laundry detergent. Maybe it’s just the fumes getting to him—that would be an awfully convenient solution.
Love has always had a tendency of doing terrible things to him.

Anyway, romance was not needed for happiness in life.
But Kaveh so desperately wants it.
It’s a wish that most probably had; experiencing a love that’s all-consuming in the best way possible, being on the receiving end of heartwarming love declarations or confessions, a relationship that grows and flourishes for all time.
He never referred to himself as a hopeless romantic but it seems that it’s becoming a reasonable label to put on him.
