"It started innocently enough… at least that is what Caleb told himself.
The same question was asked every summer at the Wildmount Wildlings: “When are we ever actually going to use this?” Usually this question was posed during theory, but this year it was during the practicals. The hot and stuffy summer air had made some of the kids more irritable than others, and wizards were not known for their love of the outdoors. However, it wasn’t just any practical that bore this question, but immovable object, a spell with many applicable uses. To the dismay of all the children, Caleb stopped the lesson to list a few. It might have been dry, even boring perhaps after the spell casting, and the sun did not stop beating down, but creative thinking might save them in a pinch.
It started innocently enough. Caleb had no ulterior motives when he mentioned it to Essek a week later. "One summer, Caleb mentioned students having difficulty with the practical applications of immovable object. Essek knew a particular use that should not be discussed in mixed company. A private lesson in Graviturgy occurred, and a private lesson followed.

“Well, if you're going to criticize—” Essek sniffed, making a show of getting up to leave.
“No, no, it was not a criticism!” Laughing, Caleb threw up his hands in mock surrender. “I promise, I will be a good boy from now on!”

Summary
Caleb laughed as he kissed Essek’s cheek softly and fell back to continue his reading, “Don’t judge it till you try it.”
“If that is the case, then I will never be allowed to judge,” Essek absentmindedly flipped a page in his book.
“I’m not so sure. I can imagine you with dirt on your face and ink staining your hands.”
“Perish the thought,” was all Essek had to say on the matter before the two fell into a comfortable silence as they read.
The problem was that Caleb could not allow the thought to perish.Day 1- Ink
Caleb wastes some very fine ink, Essek tries to teach Caleb prestidigitation at the worst possible time, and both of them learn that sometimes messes are more fun together.

“Who are you?” Lance asked the hard-edged light behind Shiro’s face, and the grin stretched a few teeth wider.
“He calls me the Gladiator,” that dark voice purred, “when I get strong enough he can’t ignore me anymore.”
“What are you? A construct? Part of the AI for the arm?”
“You’d love to believe that, wouldn’t you? He’d love to believe that too.” Hot breath washed against his prickling skin, the deep rasp of the Gladiator’s voice vibrating against his back. Shiro’s voice but not Shiro’s words. Warm lips brushed down the curve of his neck and Lance couldn’t stop the squirming pulse of his hips, couldn’t stop his head falling to the side, baring his skin to the slow, burning press of those lips. Thace arches an eyebrow at the question before he shrugs. “Hey, kiddo, are you cute?” he asks over his shoulder, humming when hears Lance moving to lean forward from his seat.

Shirogane looked down at him, eyes narrowed in a stern look. Lance resists the urge to cower, to bare his neck like his instincts tell him. He stands his ground and glares up at him. After what feels like an eternity the Alpha walks past him inside the simulation and settles into the seat Lance just vacated. “You’re jerking the wheel too hard. When you’re flying you want the controls to be an extension of yourself. You aren’t commanding them, you’re leading them.”
Lance was shocked, it took him a few moments to realize the other was actually going to teach him after all. He grinned, hurrying inside the small pod and listened to everything the Alpha showed him. A week later, Lance aced his first simulation.

Giving a shrug, Lance walks the short distance across to the fire, eyes adjusting so he can properly see the mess of dark hair and red and white armor. “Something wrong?”
Lance shrugs, flopping down gracelessly beside Keith with a yawn. “Had a nightmare, you know how it is.”
“Yeah, it's either horrible unrealistic nightmares, memories that should be unrealistic nightmares, or things that just don’t make any sense.” Keith smiles softly, tossing another log in the fire as he turns his eyes to Lance. “Need to talk about it?”
“Nah, It's just another memory of the time I di- er… did something stupid.” He feels the disappointment in his mind, even as he poorly changes his words, ignoring it he picks up a stick, poking at the fire.

It always ends up like this, every time they get together; gasping breaths and grasping hands - the push and pull of two bodies so in sync with each other that neither one needs to think about what they’re doing, instead they just do it. They can completely trust each other to take care of their needs.
The problem is that Keith doesn’t know how it started; he never does. The first time it happened he chalked it up to a drunken mistake. Terrified he'd lose his friend, he snuck out the next day with dread in his heart and was startled when an hour later he found a message on his communicator - Lance's soft voice telling him they should get together again soon.

Lance places the brush down beside him before moving his hands up to the top of the Alpha’s head. He leans forward, anger radiating off of him in waves. “I. Want. A. Baby.”
Holding his hands up in a placating manner Keith hopes will calm Lance down he tries again. “I heard you. I just don’t think we’re in a good enough place to have kids right now.”
“Really?” Lance stands up, hiking his gown to show a flash of blue lace as he steps over the seemingly uncaring Alpha and stomps up to get in his face. “That’s your argument? We’re filthy rich. Could retire and still afford anything we ever want, for the rest of our lives. So, why can’t we have a baby?”

Heats weren't what they used to be. Nowadays an omega in heat can keep a steady day job and have little to no problems as long as they take their medicine and dress properly. Properly being scent blocking patches, underwear made specifically to absorb any slick that may come, and lightweight materials for heat flashes.
So that's what Lance did. Poor college student that he was he needed the money, and lucky for him he scored a job as a waiter at the most expensive restaurant in town. The tips were worth the discomfort.
So here he was four hours into his shift, squirming under a flash of heat causing his body temperature to rise and smiling brightly at his customers. It was never a big deal past that for him anyway, as long as he avoided certain triggers.
