If there was one thing Gene Hunt knew about himself, it was that he wasn’t any kind of Nancy.
When someone died, he was not the person to be sitting around weeping, nor was he going to go into a four-decade mourning period like the royals seemed to. The best way to honour someone when they died was to raise a quick toast, say a silent prayer if appropriate, and then carry on. The world didn’t stop for the end of one person’s existence.
