Summary
Mike had gone to Vanessa with his long kept secret because he knew he could trust her. And he could.
Mike had his doubts at first, obviously you could never be completely certain of things like trust when living in Utah in 2000.
But the conversation with Vanessa went pretty okay, even if there was a tense moment between the two after Mike finally dropped the bombshell and Vanessa suddenly went quiet. But Mike understands soon enough it was less of “Oh, I don’t think we can be friends anymore” and more of processing something she didn’t know before. Mike gets it, so he doesn’t take it personally, moving on to a different topic and that was that.
Until Vanessa shows up knocking at his front door in the middle of the night, absolutely hysterical.
Or
Mike goes to Vanessa and tells her he’s Transgender. A small misunderstanding on Vanessa’s part leaves her a wreak believing she’s a horrible friend for making it seem like she now hated Mike for being himself (She doesn’t and Mike knows. She doesn’t know he knows)
But how on Earth does somebody go to their Trans friend to show that they’re loved and respected? A cake. Cakes are good peace makers.
Vanessa hopes Mike likes chocolate.

Summary
Gillion’s entire body shuddered, his shoulders heaving with the coughs that shook his entire body. He leaned against the railing of the ship, his hand up to his mouth, and was barely able to catch his breath before another fit caused him to double over. A spark of static flickered off the crown of coral wrapped around his head and he winced.
His lungs burned with each forced inhale and his mouth felt dry (an uncomfortable feeling). Gillion dug his claws into the wood of the Albatross, a low gurgle bubbling up from the back of his throat. Even that hurt like tiny knives were digging into his gills, he didn’t even want to know what it would be like to speak. A particularly large wave caused the ship to lurch and Gillion swayed dangerously with the rocking.
