beomgyu has hanahaki. in this world, where one's secrets, lies, and strong emotions can manifest into physical symptoms of illnesses referred to as "rare diseases," keeping secrets can be a complicated thing. worse yet when you're a famous idol. worse yet when you're in love with a bandmate.
beomgyu keeps his hanahaki secret for so long that he's dying now, and he might never get better. the only ones who know are the dance teacher, who saw him coughing up the flowers first, a manager, and the rare disease therapist they send him to.his teammates don't know what's wrong with him. they don't know why he and taehyun have been fighting -- if they've been fighting at all. they don't know why he's so distant now.
and whatever it is they do know, choi beomgyu and kang taehyun both won't tell.

Once it was all done, Taehyun laid down on the stretcher chair and Beomgyu proceeded to adjust his equipment to start the process. The first one they were going to do was the jellyfish on his upper arm and for that, Taehyun had to lie down entirely on the stretcher and Beomgyu would hover over him for the tattoo. Taehyun’s face was facing the ceiling and he didn’t move an inch when he heard the so common buzz getting closer to him.
“Shall we?” Beomgyu grinned at him, his body casting a shadow on Taehyun’s face, giving his eyes a break from the blinding white lamp in the room.
“Let’s get it done,” Taehyun replied in the same cheerful tone.

Rock star Taehyun seemed to have a new little tattoo at every performance. The fans are dying to know the meaning of them. Maybe they don't have one, maybe Taehyun just wants to see the tattoo artist as often as neither of them truly expects. Beomgyu is happy, though.

Beomgyu didn't really know what had happened to him. Of course, this was a recognisable feeling, but he thought he’d healed. Everything was going well. He was happy. His friends were happy. But his mind told him he shouldn't be. His mind told him to suffer, to skip meals again, to avoid talking to those he loved. And while the skipping meals part was difficult, he found it easy to shut down a little more everyday. He spent more time in his room, cracked less jokes during practice, declined innocent hangouts because he was “too tired” or “had other plans.”
It genuinely came out of nowhere. But that was the art of depression: surprise attacks that lacked a catalysing force.
