And that is how, some four weeks later, Eddie finds himself in another city, in another stadium, performing in front of another screaming crowd. Every single place in the stands is packed, just like Chrissy said it would be.
Jesus fucking Christ, he thinks, while a gray-haired dude dressed in a tux and bowtie of all things steps up to the microphone placed at the center of the ring.
“Ladies and Gentlemen,” he intones in one of the most sonorous voices Eddie has ever heard in his life. “Fighting out of the red corner, wearing black trunks and weighing one-hundred-seventy-five and a quarter pounds. Originally from the small town of Hawkins, Indiana. His professional record: thirty-three consecutive victories with twenty-eight knock-outs. It’s my pleasure to present the undefeated, undisputed light heavyweight champion of the world: his majesty, the King of the Ring … Steeeeeve Harringtoooooon!”

“Oh hi,” Steve says. “Are your parents home?”
She gives them a long, pointed once over. Steve in his slippers and too-thin shirt and Dustin in his knitted Minecraft hat.
Then, without turning, she hollers, “Dad! It's the hottie from across the street.”

Summary
Eddie used to dream of flying, but that was before the crash.
Today, his dreams are full of fire and bursting metal, and when he wakes, it is to ants crawling under scarred skin, his hands clawing at a limb that is long gone. Today, he is content in his mechanic’s shop, looking at aircraft only when they pass him in the sky above.
Eddie thought he’d never fly again.
Until the day that Steve Harrington, heir to one of the city’s most prodigious entrepreneurs, shows up at his shop, looking for someone to fix his racer for the Starcourt Cup - the airship race that took Eddie’s leg and his dreams four years ago.
Eddie knows he should stay out of this.
And still, he finds himself dragged into Harrington’s affairs - a gentleman’s agreement involving an arranged marriage and a star-crossed love. With the race one week away and Richard Harrington’s henchmen sabotaging their efforts every step of the way, he ends up getting to know Steve more closely than he ever expected.
Eddie thought he’d never fly again.
But life has a way of proving you wrong.
