It was school nurse Dianne's sixth kid of the day and it was only 9:30. Between Joker attacks and just living in Gotham being a school nurse sucked. Did the kid have an upper respiratory infection or is it remnants of Joker gas?
The next kid that walked in had a full-on bleeding arm. He looked like he had stuck it in a wood chipper. It was the start of a long day.
"Sit down right over there," Dianne said as she pointed to the chair. "What's your name honey?"
"Timothy Drake, I fell and hurt my arm. It's not bad, but my teacher said you needed to look at it before I could go back to class."

Tim dutifully shook his head no while looking at the broken shards of glass that used to be a vase. Trying to understand what she meant by homework and dogs when he wasn't allowed to have any pets. The vase was utterly shattered. Tim had been playing when he slipped on the hardwood floors and bumped into a table that held the vase.

He wouldn't waste this chance at bringing Bruce back into to the light. He would do whatever it took to be Robin. Shave the parts that didn't fit, wittle the edges down and sand over all of his rough places. He couldn't afford to mess this up.

The man's eyes started to go glassy as Tim noticed he started to struggle with focusing on him. The man's face had gone white as a sheet and Tim's fear had been confirmed. The sheer amount of blood, the fact that the pressure he was holding wasn't helping, and now even with Tim's limited amount of experience he knew the signs of shock.
The knife hit an artery and the man was dying.

Tim knows. He tells himself worse and still it's stupid, he had to get up early for school and patrol is running late. He's tired and he shouldn't be. He's young and Robin doesn't get tired. He's the terror of the night, not some ordinary child.

"Not in a few weeks this is the first time I've made it Gotham in a month. Is something wrong?" Dick asked with his mouth full of Alfred's cookies.
"This past week he sent in his case reports and there were more than double what he usually does. I glanced over the WE meeting reports and Tim verbally called out one of the senior chairmen in front of the whole board room. Jason said that he saw Tim beating the crap out low level scumbag to the point Jason stepped in. Jason stopped him!" Bruce explained.
"Tim? Baby Bird? About this tall," Dick gestured, "blue eyes, dark hair, Tim?"
