Despite the even, easy tone, despite knowing that it’s Cody and that, as the last twenty-four hours have successfully proved beyond a doubt, Cody would rather die than see any harm come to him, Obi-Wan can’t suppress his immediate reaction to the thought of putting the twins— his twins, his now, and he’ll die before he lets anything touch them—down.
“Full disclosure, I don’t believe I am capable of letting go of them, at the moment.” He thinks for a beat and then adds, “Possibly ever.”

“It really doesn’t bother me, my dear,” Obi-Wan lied through his teeth, struggling to sit upright on the bed in the medbay after his most recent injury. His arm was in a sling so he couldn’t sign, and Cody could see the frustration in his eyes with every instinctive move to lift his arm, “I have spent years not hearing, it is as much a part of me as my lightsaber is, it’s part of who I am. Yes, my implant allows me to hear and yes, sometimes I do miss the voices of my loved ones, but I am used to it.”
“But you shouldn’t have to be,” Cody signed as he spoke, letting out a sigh, “you chose to get the implant for a reason, to have the choice to hear. And that choice has been taken from you.”
“You do not need to worry about me, dear,” Obi-Wan said, reaching out with his uninjured hand to place it on Cody’s knee. Cody just shook his head and smiled sadly.
“I always worry about you, cyare.”

Summary
The kyber crystal chooses the Jedi. Wielding a saber whose crystal didn't choose you will never be as easy as wielding your own. This means sabers a) have the capacity to like or dislike people and b) have the capacity to be obstinate little shits to people they dislike.
If a certain Jedi's saber really likes you, I'm not saying it means you're soulmates, but I'm not saying it DOESN'T mean you're soulmates, either.
Most works reference each other but stand alone fairly well, so reading previous isn't necessarily required, but I would recommend reading at least the first before Cards on the Table. To readers who want all the fluff and nothing else, skip that last one. Series is listed as complete but I may wander back someday should my muse desire.

Summary
Cody has always heard the whispers on the edges of his mind, the thoughts that flitter through the minds of his brothers which are never voiced aloud. The negativity of the Cuy'Val Dar, the anguish of the Prime, the childish wonder and fear of Boba, the arrogance of the Kaminiise. He learnt at a young age to block the whispers out, to ignore the thoughts, to help those he could in any way that he could without drawing attention to himself. The safety of others, after all, could only be ensured if Cody, himself, remained alive to ensure it.
Cody is telepathic, he always has been. But it turns out that while he can read other people's surface thoughts without really trying (a problem all of its own), he cannot read the minds of Force Sensitives. Somehow, this helps to save the galaxy

It doesn't matter how often he tells Obi-Wan that he's unafraid - and let it be known, he's informing him enthusiastically at every chance he gets - Obi-Wan knows better. The Force flickers around him, betraying him even now, unsteady and ever-weakening in strength. It wavers whenever the Sith enters the room, whenever he flashes him his teeth, whenever his breath stirs the hairs on the back of his neck as he asks his questions.
And yet, despite that, the Commander of Mandalore's armies seems to be fascinatingly difficult to break.

Uncertainty flashes behind Obi-Wan's eyes, then understanding; not for the first time, Cody is grateful for all of the long hours spent just the two of them, making it easier to read each other’s expressions. “They’re stronger than we thought,” Obi-Wan guesses, certainty colouring his tone as Cody nods. “Give the order. I’ll head into the front, provide what cover I can.”
“Sir—”
“Cody. Get your brothers out of the front.” He smacks his newly tied vambraces together to adjust them to his comfort, then pulls Cody close, pressing their foreheads together in a Keldabe.
