Summary
TK and Carlos face a whole new parenting challenge when six-year-old Jonah is excluded from the class bully’s birthday party, and it seems like he’s even losing his best friend because of it. With the help of Owen, Andrea and Buttercup – and an unexpected turn of events – the husbands find a way to muddle through and heal a couple of little broken hearts.
As soon as Carlos steps out from the passenger side of the truck, silhouetted against the cold white sky, TK’s chest blooms with warmth.
“Papa!” Jonah shouts.
“Hola, mijo!” Carlos shouts back, his hat off because he knows the drill – TK and Jonah will get hit in the face with the brim when they embrace him if he keeps the hat on, and lord knows Jonah’s had enough of things hitting his face for one day.
“What are you doing here?” TK asks. The nice surprise is making him laugh. He hurries along with Jonah, and Carlos jogs to meet them halfway. Sam casually saunters along behind.
Playing cool and corporate, Carlos answers, “Well, sir, when you informed me of what happened, I thought we'd better take a detour and check out the scene.”

Summary
It’s the middle of the night, and TK and Carlos have to pick a devastated eight-year-old Jonah up from his first sleepover when a scary movie freaks him out a bit too much. Back in the safety of their home, the three of them have a sleepover of their own.
“Okay. Baby who is not a baby. Do you want Papa to come sit in the back with you while we drive?”
Carlos smiles at Jonah softly – a smile as if to say, “That’ll be fine with me.”
Jonah faces the window again. That was brief. “No,” he says, “No…just leave me here.”
TK and Carlos look at each other for a second before they have to look away, or they’ll crack up.
“We’re not having that,” Carlos tells him, opening his door and getting out. He hops into the backseat with his boy and reaches an arm around his shoulders.
Jonah doesn’t protest, partly because Papa Carlos is so warm.
“You’re warm,” Jonah tells him, and holds onto Carlos' wrist to keep him there.

Summary
A coda for 3x08
He feels like a coward for being scared of seeing Carlos’s face when he tells him what will surely break his heart. But he won’t keep this from him.
“Carlos?” He whispers.
Carlos presses a kiss to the nape of his neck and the dip of his shoulder, and TK’s eyelids drop at the contact.
“I have to tell you something.”

Winter 2019:
Shane’s bye week lasts about twelve seconds before it turns into fever-fuelled melodrama and 1,187 unread messages ranging from “I’m dying” to “your backhand was trash.” Ilya loses a game, hides in an airport alcove, and goes full worried boyfriend, praying to get to Shane as quickly as humanly possible, and counting the kilometres from Ottawa to Montreal while keeping it quiet from the team. Then it’s Nurse Ilya time: cool cloths, small sips, soft Russian endearments, and the clingiest naps known to man until the fever finally breaks and they know it's going to be okay.

Summary
Up ahead, a logging truck turns onto the highway. It's going quite a bit slower than the rest of the cars, but is accelerating to catch up. Carlos slows down to accommodate it, and that's when the guy behind him lays on the horn.
There's a split second where Carlos gets nervous—an irrational fear from watching the second Final Destination movie with their friends a few days ago. He reminds himself that it's just a movie. It's still daylight out, the roads aren't slick with rain or ice—these are ideal driving conditions. He's never so much as scratched the paint on any car he's owned. It's fine.
Just a dumb movie.

Summary
At least TK kept his promise to stay out of the ICU for a year.
He had only made it as far as the emergency room, a fractured right wrist after a (fairly) friendly basketball game at the station. He didn’t even have to take any time off, and Carlos only made two sarcastic jokes on their way home from picking him up, playfully poking at the soft cast for good measure.
Here they were, ten months into their marriage and he was waiting for Carlos to get out of emergency surgery.
***
Carlos gets hurt on a call and has surgery. Soft hospital tarlos ensues.

Summary
Roy, in that soft little part of him that cares about his best fucking friend quite a lot, wants nothing more than to comfort him, tell him he'll be alright.
"Tartt," he snaps. It turns out comforting is a difficult note for Roy Kent to hit. "Stay the fuck awake if it fucking kills you. No fucking passing out on the pitch."
"M'not... not gonna...," Jamie slurs, his hand resting limply across his face now. He gags, like he's holding back an upsurge of vomit, then swallows thickly. "Just... fuckin' dizzy."

Summary
He should have been smarter, or maybe a little more scared. It was Carlos' hubris that got them into this situation in the first place, thinking he could take on intruders with nothing but the threat of his gun and de-escalation training.
"That's the job," a voice that sounds suspiciously like his father rings in the back of his mind. "You make split-second decisions and learn to live with the consequences."
"Whose consequences?" he shoots bitterly back at a man who's not even here with him. Gabriel doesn't respond.

Summary
After Sam Campbell is hospitalized during a bust gone wrong, a guilt-filled Carlos eagerly agrees that he, TK and seven-year-old Jonah will look after the Campbells’ dog, Ruby. But when a thunderstorm scares Ruby and she runs away, Jonah goes after her – and suddenly TK and Carlos find themselves in a living nightmare where both dog and kid are missing.
“Hug me ‘til I pop,” Carlos whispers.
Jonah is instantly delighted to have been given a special task, and hugs Carlos with a small roar. Carlos pretends to struggle, rocking Jonah as if to fling him before whisper-shouting, “Ahhh…BOOM!”
It’s the least dramatic popping he’s ever done because they’re in public, but it’s enough to make Jonah giggle and snuggle him for real. Bringing his face out of Jonah’s silky hair, Carlos catches eyes with TK. The way TK returns Carlos’ gaze from across the room makes him feel like he could melt into the floor. It’s a look of longing, admiration, sorrow, desire, all in one. Nobody, Carlos thinks, can have a whole conversation through his eyes like TK Strand-Reyes can, and nobody except Carlos knows exactly what to say in response with his own.

Summary
Last night, they had phone sex. It was hot, really hot. He didn’t think he was capable of saying some of the things he said, but he is, because he said them and TK liked it and came in his ear with a strained gasp. TK said debauched things to him too, at one point he couldn’t quite follow the position they were supposed to be imagining themselves in, but he closed his eyes, listened to TK’s voice and pumped himself to the finish line and it was the next best thing to having him there. Nothing else can beat having TK with him in person.
It started when TK had said something out of the blue in the middle of a normal ‘how was your day?’ conversation that made all the blood in his body rush south and his cock harden stiff in his underwear.
Breathily, “How would you feel about coming inside me?”

Summary
As TK and Carlos embrace parenthood together, moving into a new house coincides with the second anniversary of Gabriel’s death, and both Carlos and Jonah are struggling with their sleep. But there’s another second anniversary coming up – and one sleepless night, Carlos finds inspiration through Jonah for how to celebrate two years married to TK.
Carlos stands still, shakes his head.
“Carlos?”
“I get it,” Carlos says, smiling as his eyes well with tears, silvery in the low winter sunlight. “I’m the one who needed to get it. It was me.”
“Get what?” TK looks at him quizzically. “Baby?”
Carlos lets out a breathy laugh, gazes back at him with wonder as a tear slips down his cheek.
“Baby–” TK brushes the tear away with his thumb and keeps his hand on Carlos’ cheek. “What did you need to get?”
Carlos takes a deep breath, leans into TK’s hand. “Where all this love comes from,” he says.
TK chuckles. “What do you mean?”
“Baby. I want us to adopt Jonah. I’m ready.”Bookmarked by afiendishthingy

Summary
“Carlos.”
It’s not Campbell’s voice calling his name anymore. It’s softer… warmer…
“Carlos, baby, I need you to stay with me.” Two gentle hands cup both of his cheeks. Everything is cold, so very cold, but the hands are warm against his skin, and for the brief moment that they’re touching him he feels like he can breathe again.
“TK… Tyler?” He mumbles. The words taste bitter and metallic leaving his mouth. He’s not sure how it’s possible that he’s here. They’re too far from Austin for it to really be him. It has to be a dream, one last dream of his husband before he drifts off forever…
“I’m right here, baby. I need you to stay with me.”OR: Carlos is dying and it's TK that comes to save him, because who else would it be?
