Summary
Riddle Rosehearts has spent the last school year unwinding the character his mother tried to force him to be and discover who he really is. He's been attending therapy since his overblot, which has been immensely helpful, so he doesn't doubt his counselor when they suggest he try journaling as a means of healthily coping with his emotions. With his new diary and pen in hand, he finds himself growing closer and closer to a functional human being.
Then the headmage announces that Night Raven College will be hosting its first ever Family Day, and Riddle has no power to stop the horrible, life-altering events that take place from unfolding.

Sebek’s grades were near the top of the class, but he still struggled with some of the practical applications of magic. One of the things Master Lilia had encouraged, no matter how hard he’d made Silver and Sebek train, was that rest was important, too. One of Sebek’s favorite ways to unwind was reading, but receiving a letter from Silver was, on occasion, also a welcome distraction from studying. But only because it gave Sebek a feel for what his own internship might be like!
And it was always a nice surprise when Silver included a photograph, ones of Squirshie with short little descriptions of the location.

Romantic.
Silver shook his head, a smile twitching at his lips. Kalim had once told him the story of a woman who had told a thousand and one tales, captivating the sultan at the time, and he could easily picture Kalim in that role. Not of the sultan, but of the storyteller.
Only someone with that sort of imagination could see Silver’s relationship with Sebek as more than friendship.

Hearing his future husband's name right now made his heart tremble, but Lilia had a point. Pacing on the spot wouldn't help matters and would simply wind him up, so Silver reluctantly sat down. His leg was still jittery, and he fussed with the edge of his cloak—the magical shifting of fabric between pink and blue as turbulent as his stomach felt in that moment.
