Summary
When Wylie first sees Sophie Foster, a girl with strange eyes wide with nerves, underneath a hurricane of emotions, he finds himself surprised by how young she looks.
She’s just a kid.
The realization almost makes it harder to hate her, but Wylie manages. After all, he was just a kid when the Council broke his father’s mind and left him exiled, reduced to mumbling madness, all for protecting her.
The logical part of him knows that she didn’t choose for any of that to happen. He knows that she doesn’t exist to hurt him. Supposedly, she exists to help. To change the things that need to be changed. To improve their world. To do the impossible.
And yet, she’s just a kid.

Summary
“Hey, Nic. I thought you’d be asleep by now,” Wolfe informs Santi, turning in his chair to face him with a smile. Santi grins, barely holding back a yawn.
“You’re one to talk. Tragically, I have a paper due in”—he glances at Wolfe’s clock—“six hours and fifty-two minutes, so I’m gonna make some coffee if you’d like any,” he offers. Wolfe glances back at his desk for a moment before standing, wordlessly following Santi through the narrow hallway into their cramped kitchen.
...
Or, Wolfe and Santi are grad students, studying linguistics and criminal psychology respectively. They're also roommates in a cramped apartment who have to juggle school, gay feelings that they'd really rather ignore, and some kid they accidentally adopted despite having no idea how to parent. Also, they've got treasonous thoughts about the Library's global censorship that could get them killed - or worse, with their luck.
What could go wrong?

Summary
My dearest Nic,
Some days I feel so sane. Some days I’m unaffected by the sound of keys turning in the door that I don’t think anything of it- but some days I hear them like bells chiming my last hour, or what I hope will be.

Summary
When Tiergan finds the envelope, he can't bring himself to open it.
It's been three months since the break, and the gaping wound in his chest is still too raw. He fears that, if he opens it, whatever is written inside will slice open the stitches that he has so carefully, painstakingly sewn into an ugly, red scar over his heart. That everything he's been trying to keep under control might come pouring out.

Summary
The memories don’t come back consistently or cleanly. Some don't come back at all.
Bits and pieces come to him at seemingly random instances, and he often doesn't have every part of every fragment. Sometimes, Prentice hears something but his eyes don't remember it, or sees something he can't hear.
Wylie, when he was little, running around in t-rex pajamas with mallowmelt all over his face, refusing to let him wipe it off. Prentice can't hear his mischievous little cackle, but he knows it's there.
Cyrah's laugh. It was always so light, so clear, and she snort-laughed any time something caught her off guard.
Tiergan, looking supremely annoyed at a puffy, bloated elf.
A whispered promise.
The promise is the one that Prentice keeps coming back to.

Summary
"I'm calling it 'Adopt a Stray,'" Cliff announced, pacing the rug. "Tomorrow night. Boston vs. Montreal. We announce a new 'tradition.' We say that Boston has noticed that not every team is as close as ours. We say we’re looking for 'strays'—players who aren’t really accepted by their team, always seem an outcast, that need a little extra team bonding or whatever. And the first 'stray' we’re adopting? Is Shane Hollander."

Summary
Shrugging one shoulder far more casually than he possibly feels, Ilya says, “I like both. Is secret, okay?”
“Okay,” Hollander says, voice cracking.
He doesn’t say anything else. The air’s so heavy around them that it feels like being in the middle of a scrum, the weight and heat of all those bodies pressing down on you. Danger always feels like hockey; it’s the most dangerous thing Ilya knows, except for this. Everything dangerous in his life involves men’s bodies and just how close he can get to them. Closer than he probably should.
Nobody knows why Shane Hollander dropped out of the 2009 draft at the last second, and a year later it stuns the whole hockey world when he's signed by the Boston Raiders. Having the two biggest stars in the league on the same line is great for Boston - but playing alongside their worst rival was never exactly in Shane or Ilya's plans. Especially not when staying away from each other starts to feel just as impossible as getting along.

Summary
A few months after the FanMail incident, Yuna Hollander decides to do what she does best. With the added benefit of having another son to lovingly manage, of course. The internet, unsurprisingly, loses its shit.
Or, Shane and Ilya go on the press run to end all press runs, courtesy of Yuna Hollander.
