For a moment, he stepped into the beams of the next racers’ headlights, his broad frame silhouetted in their glow. The ground rumbled, shaken by idling engines and blaring music, and Cavendish felt the thrum in his bloodstream. The air crackled with energy, with adrenaline, and tension, and anticipation, and when Bartolomeo stopped in front of him, he wondered if it was the thrill of the night making his heart race, or if it was just him.

Bartolomeo called him baby, called her sweetheart, called them darlin’ in his endearing drawl, and they all fit, so often and so comfortably that it was overwhelming. But he’d also just use Cav, for the times that none of the others felt quite right, and he’d murmur “beautiful” reverently into the hollow behind Cavendish’s ear, and he meant that every second that they were together.

“Sweet baby boy.” Cavendish’s voice was soft, almost as if Bartolomeo wasn’t meant to hear it. “You’re always good enough. Sometimes, you just…” His eyes moved over the red of his cheek. “Need to be reminded.”
Bartolomeo’s breath stuttered over the pad of Cavendish’s thumb. Their eyes met again and Cavendish lifted an eyebrow.
“Have you learned your lesson?”
When Barto nodded, Cavendish bent down to kiss him.
“Tell me what you want then. One more time. Daddy wants to hear it.”
“Want you,” Bartolomeo murmured as Cavendish pressed another kiss to the corner of his mouth. “Want you to fuck me, daddy. Please.”
Cavendish pushed him flat onto the bed.
“Good boy.”

It wasn’t until a pair of neatly polished dress shoes appeared in his periphery that he realized he had company, and he looked up with his heart in his throat as Cavendish met his gaze.
