Summary

He had hewn his way through men and their hosts, relentless as a storm wind crashing against a fleet, and in the slaughter, he had found a dark joy. That same wild current swelled within him now, unspent, demanding an outlet.
It was for this that he had hastened here, before tending to his men, before reckoning the toll of battle. Their wounds, their grief, their dead – these he would see to, as was his duty of King. But not yet. First, he must claim his own release.
And there she lay – the fairest spoil of all, his adornment, his prize. Wrapped in a silken covering, light and wayward as a summer breeze, she slumbered. The cloth twisted about her form, baring as much as it concealed, leaving her limbs and back for his sight to delight in.
