shadow could feel sonic’s body right next to him. though it wore his own skin, it felt so unlike himself that he barely gave any attention to it.
because all he saw was sonics damn smirk and forever glowing eyes, full of admiration for life, looking into distance
it was too much. he was free from his disease, he was sure.
but why did his heart ached so much when their gazes met?

this is my first work here !! pretty much shadow has a terminal illness and was manipulated by eggman to swap bodies with sonic. to his surprise, when sonic discovers the truth, he’s more than happy to do it.

Summary
Shadow woke.
Because of course he did.
Joy.
He woke up gagging on water and vomiting up onto the shoreline he’d been unceremoniously deposited onto. A mercy, all things considered, that the water would so gently lay him ashore when it’d so mercilessly bashed him against every rock imaginable beforehand. He could have cried in relief, and if a few salty streaks ran down his cheek despite himself then…then there wasn’t a soul around to tell of his weakness.
Everything still hurt.
Worse, actually, than it did before.
If it were possible.

For months, Shadow and Sonic have been finding eachother late into the night and having brutal spars. Nothing is more exhilarating to Sonic. They throw their lives at each other and trust the other enough not to take it. But as Sonic's trust grows, so does his care. He wants to know what drives Shadow to their late-night fights. When he finds out, he comforts Shadow.
OR
Sonic and Shadow regularly beat each other up in the middle of the night until one night Sonic refuses to.

Sonic is lonely. All of his friends have grown up, left and started new lives. Amy now works as a volunteer in disadvantaged communities, Knuckles looks after the Master Emerald 24/7 and Tails is in university now, doing a degree in robotics. Shadow… honestly, he has no clue what the (grudgingly attractive) dark hedgehog gets up to anymore. He knows he’s being selfish, but he wishes everything would go back to normal. So what, sometimes he gets drunk on his own? And so what, sometimes he wakes up, hungover, with shallow cuts around his wrist? No one’s going to be around to see it anyway. Until someone does, of course.
Shadow isn’t proud of himself. He’s the ultimate life form, brought up by Gerald Robotnik himself. The professor taught him everything he knew. And according to him, liking another male is a sin. So he can’t like Sonic. He can’t. He just wishes Sonic was a girl. But now he's fucked up. Rouge is mad at him, he has nowhere to stay. And there’s no one to turn to besides Sonic, the one person he wants to avoid at all costs.
...
TLDR: Shadow gets kicked out of Team Dark's apartment, and Sonic lets him stay at his for a bit. Both hedgehogs get more then they bargained for.
