Nicolò looked over at him, his face suddenly, awfully, blank, and that was the end of that.
In the wake of the Frankish conquest of Tyre, Joe and Nicky leave their settled home in Baghdad in order to help a friend. Naturally, things escalate from there.

There was more that went with this declaration; the next bit went on to beseech Maitimo in the name of true friendship not to let Findekáno forget, but that was to follow after the interested lift of Maitimo's eyebrows, and Maitimo was instead grave and silent, his book forgotten in his hands.

(sadly each chapter is a separate ficlet and AO3 won't let me sort the tags by chapter, so although the tags may vaguely suggest an epic adventure where Combeferre, Courfeyrac, and Feuilly embark on a steampunk type voyage to the bottom of the sea told entirely in Hugolian pastiche, that story is alas not contained within this work. You cannot be more disappointed about this than I am.)
