Summary
After Peter Parker finds himself in need of an apartment, he actually gets a stroke of luck with finding a roommate: Jake Peralta, of the NYPD. What happens when the two met? Well, for lack of better phrase, its "toit"
Notes: This takes place before Amy and Jake started living together (for obvious reasons) and the Spider-man is in his 20s
Inspired partly on that tumblr post from transpeter "imagine one day spidey is held up by the new york city police department, and he's expecting the same old bullshit of "this stupid spider menace vigilante blah blah blah" like the cops in queens always say to him, but instead he's met with a 30 year old brooklyn cop who is less concerned with peter being a vigilante, and is mroe concerned with peter's powers. he won't stop asking peter about his spider powers, how they work, how he got them, how he would rate them on a scale of "cool" to "toit"
and finally peter gets a word in edgewise and is like "not that this isn't refreshing compared to the way the police usually treat me, but what kinda cop are you again??" and the cop is all like "i'm actually a detective, jake peralta from the 99th precinct, anyways can you summon an army of spider is that just a rumor??"

I really wanted to write something short that focused on how extremely normal and regular their every interaction is.
Set a couple of years after canon, to fit in some off-screen character development that'd allow for this level of emotional maturity.

Summary
I may be a vast and immensely powerful MI, but even so (or perhaps, and especially so) I am not immune to finding artifacts in my functionality reports. Sometimes, something fails to get the grain of processing power it needs to complete the query in time and generates a jumble of recursive nonsense code as it stutters in place. I don't spare it another thought as I dismiss the error message and forward the report as reference for cleanup. It'll all be gone by the next cycle.

Summary
The terms Barish-Estranza gives the lost colony are simple. Unconditional surrender, sign indenture paperwork for every adult and child, or they will eliminate all dissidents on record using a Combat SecUnit, and the killing will continue until they get their way.
The people of Esperia have no idea what that is. Barish-Estranza has technology that they have never seen. But they know they have to save the children. They pack the colony's children onto their one functioning ship, the Horizon, along with teachers and a barely adequate crew, and send them toward the wormhole that may lead back to the world that the Esperian colonists originally came from.
Barish-Estranza doesn't want to admit it, but they're unexpectedly missing their best threat.
And, onboard the Horizon, a child tells his teacher that there's a mysterious person in the machine closet…

Summary
It seems like there should be a very neat line, at least for humans, between dead and not dead, but I’ve seen enough messy half-alive humans to know that there is no such clear distinction. I’ve seen bodies that were still breathing despite missing part of their heads, bodies that weren’t breathing despite their owners being fully conscious. I wouldn’t call either option alive. I wouldn’t call either option dead, either.
For a machine intelligence, the border is even blurrier. It's hard to say which side of it I will stand on when they're through with me.
