“I see you’re wearing my gift, Kaoru… does this mean you approve?” Kaoru's ears twitched, tails flickering in excitement at the sound of his mate's approach.
Kaoru rolled his eyes, the irritated glare he sent over his shoulder was ruined by the happy sway of his many tails and the soft scent of citrus and burnt sugar from belaying his joy. “Don’t ask such foolish questions you already know the answer to…”
“Well, it looks good on you. I knew it would suit my Cherry Blossoms pretty hair.” Kojiro said, sitting himself behind Kaoru and pulling him into his lap. His large hands going to stroke through the long pink strands with reverence, as if they were made from spun gold.
“Kojiro…”
Kojiro smiled, burying his nose into Kaoru's hair and inhaling his scent, “Though, I’m sorry it doesn’t compare to the gift you’ve given me this year.”
“Oh, please, you can’t compare it to something like that. And you know I’ll cherish it… my darling, doting, dim-witted husband.” Kojiro's hands wrapped themselves around Kaoru's waist, resting against his lower belly protectively, Kaoru just smiled, placing his own smaller hands over Kojiro's larger ones and intertwining their fingers.

Summary
“Don’t be such a grouch,” Ainosuke admonished as they walked through the farmer’s market, clearly out of place. Though Kaoru had to begrudgingly admit they would have stood out regardless of their clothing; Ainosuke had a habit of attracting attention wherever he went.
And at least the people gave pleasant little smiles and nods as they walked by rather than the slight sneers and side-eyed glances they might receive elsewhere. Though these people were trying to make a sale, so Kaoru wasn’t totally naive to their ulterior motives.
“Besides, what do you have against organically grown produce?” Ainosuke asked. “Or, you know, artisan breads or goat milk soap or…well, that guy over there is selling authentic country-style beefcake, by the look of it.”
Ainosuke drags Kaoru to some one-horse town in the middle of nowhere for some R&R. Kaoru planned on sleeping, a lot of boredom, and maybe getting caught up on work behind Ainosuke’s back.
He did not plan on a hot farm boy with bulging muscles, a lopsided grin, and mouthwatering, farm-fresh…eggplant.

It feels like Kaoru’s on the verge of death as he bursts through the hospital doors.He’s probably, no definitely, broken several laws on the way here; he definitely ran at least one red light, and he’d treated speed limits like they were advisory, rather than a hard and fast rule. It feels like he can’t breathe, the dangerous rabbit of his heart, the rising nausea, and the oppressive weight bearing down on his chest. His eyes burn with tears he refuses to shed, feeling too much like an acceptance if he does, and when he plants his palm against the reception counter his hand trembles.
“I’m here for Nanjo Kojiro,” Kaoru breathes in a rush. He hears his own words echoed and frantic in his head.
Kojiro is hit with a dose of a powerful new drug, Pollen, during a beef. Kaoru is his emergency contact, in more ways than one.
