“Not yet,” Chan said, and this time his smile dropped on one side into a smirk.
“Are you hitting on me?”
Chan let out a huge laugh, the type that made his eyes crinkle in on themselves and almost split his face in two with how wide his grin was, and he threw his head back so that the chains around his neck moved and rippled across his throat. Hyunjin squinted even harder.
“Not yet,” he repeated.

Hyunjin almost looked like a newborn. His dark eyes were bright, eager, and while he was pale, he had no sallow complexion, no dark circles, no bone-deep exhaustion that came with centuries of borrowed life. He looked so… fresh. Like if Chan blinked, and unfocused his eyes a little, he could imagine Hyunjin’s cheeks flushing a dusty pink, he could imagine the tight sinew of his neck, warm and hot beneath his teeth, and if he opened his jaw and sank his fangs, he could imagine bright red blood flowing across his tongue, bursting with sweetness like an overripe cherry and nothing like the same black rot they both shared.
Chan blinked and refocused his eyes with a glare. Changbin’s friend didn’t just look like a newborn; he looked like a fucking human.
OR: Chan hates being a vampire. Hyunjin loves it.
