After Lex exposes Kara’s identity, Lena walks away before anger can turn into something worse. A month later, an alien invasion brings her back to National City—and back into Kara’s orbit. “How about we do brunch tomorrow to celebrate?” Kara asks, sitting up so her back’s leaning against her headboard. “We could go to Rosie’s and get cinnamon roll pancakes or something cool like that.”
“Not tomorrow.”
Kara blinks, then she sighs. Something hard and heavy tightens in her gut. “School?” she asks.
“Yeah. I… Well, I actually made a new friend at the lab.” There’s a plasticky rustle on the other side of the line. Maybe Lena’s sitting on the big leather chair in her study, swiveling slightly from side to side. “Her name’s Andrea,” she continues. “We were assigned together, and she’s sort of been interested in learning about my code, so she invited me to her place to study it.”
“Oh.” Kara’s brow furrows; she starts biting her thumbnail. “Um, okay. Well, Sunday, then?”
OR
When she's not focused on her English Lit degree, Kara works at her family's coffee shop, joking with her sister, chatting with customers, and spending her downtime with Lena. When Lena's time starts being taken up by a coveted internship, though, Kara cannot figure out why she's started feeling so annoyed with Lena's new friend.

Ten years after they first parted ways, Gideon finds out that her childhood enemy Harrowhark is now a vampire with a delicate stomach. Sucks to be Harrow--pun fully intended--because Gideon is one of the few people whose blood she can stomach. Gideon is never going to let this go.

Harrow stared at the golden eyes, her mind filling with a warm buzz and melodic hum. Her brain was a massive generator, constantly writhing and whining, but those beautiful eyes melted through like lava, reducing her to a drooling, staring moron. The glasses were replaced, and the buzzing cut off.
Harrow looked over to Cam who was pulling on her stitching, a nervous habit she supposed. “Wow,” was all she could say.
Cam cocked an eyebrow, the exposed bolt on her neck sparking a bit with the action. “See what we mean? She didn’t even look at you and you were caught by it.”
“What is she?” Harrow asked, her voice returning to its normal ice.
Cam seemed to pause at that. “Gideon is just, incredibly powerful.”

Now her parents have decided being in the general public isn’t safe, and they’re sending her to a special boarding school for ghouls. Zombies, gorgons, and more inhabit the halls of Canaan High. Gideon is still not used to her, to this person that is Pal and Camilla and yet none of them. “You get Harrow back from Alecto, then you spend two weeks planted at her bedside, refusing to leave her side for anything at all.” (I’m a construct, replied Gideon, I don't have basic needs. Paul ignores her.) “Now Harrow is awake and it seems like you want to be on another planet as soon as you two are in the same room.”
“We had some unfinished business, me and Harrow.” She says, looking at those grey eyes that unsettle her so much. “We have finished them now.”
Paul laughs, bitterly. “You let Harrow siphon your body just so she could get a key, almost ending your life. You gave yourself to her at the end, so she could live. One does not just ’finish business’ with a bond like that.”

Gideon and Harrow finally reunite again. It doesn’t go quite as expected.Or the one where Harrow is ride shamed with guilt and Gideon thinks she is rejecting her again and they are both idiots about it.
